Terry Pratchett, RIP

Some quotes to remember him by:

"Fantasy is an exercise bicycle for the mind. It might not take you anywhere, but it tones up the muscles that can."

"I didn't go to university. Didn't even finish A-levels. But I have sympathy for those who did."

"It's not worth doing something unless you were doing something that someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren't doing."

"There is a rumour going around that I have found God. I think this is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist."

A sad day. However:

“DON'T THINK OF IT AS DYING, said Death. JUST THINK OF IT AS LEAVING EARLY TO AVOID THE RUSH.”

Andy - I have to say I have never read any of his work - what sort of genre does he write ? I take it from all the news etc that he was quite an author. (sorry for my ignorance of this man but his quotes are superb.)

His first couple of books were intended to be spoofs of the fantasy genre, then his style changed an he started to satirize life in general.  They are all funny in different ways and sometimes surprisingly profound.
