Hi,
I am writing this message to say "Thank you" to someone who anonymously helped me and disappeared, didn't even wait for any reward.
I live in Servette and this Saturday, on my way back to home after grocery shopping, my wallet fell from my pocket. On Monday, I only came to know that I have lost it when I was getting ready for work. I searched the apartment and I could not understand what went wrong.
I had an intuition that I should contact the local Police Station and may be ask if someone reported a Found Wallet. I was surprised when the Police officer in Servette told me that yes, someone dropped your wallet this morning in our suggestion box. And I should go to Lost/Found dept of Police in Rive to collect it.
I was extremely happy and finally when I got my wallet in my hand, I checked my personal belongings inlcuding ID cards, bank cards, driving license and money, they all were there!!
Faith in humanity restored - BIG, BIG TIME!!!
Ms./Mr. Anonymous, I cannot thank you enough for your help. I was trying to figure out as how much time it would have taken me to get those cards re-issued (probably at least 3 months) plus the hastle involved in getting them. I am extremely thankful to you :)
May Allah bless you for this kind gesture, Ameen.
Cheers,
Hasan
PS: Ms./Mr. Anonymous, I will be grateful if after reading my message, you wish to contact me.

Cool story and good thing you kept faith in humanity. I once found money (a significant sum), turned it to the police, but nobody claimed it. So they ended up sending it back to me (minus a small administrative fee)... good for me and great to know that the cops involved were honest, but not exactly what I had in mind.

I had a similar experience in Zug, after losing my wallet there. The police actually did some minor investigation work based on some details in the wallet and managed to contact me through my work.
In my case, the lady that handed it in did leave her address and it was a pleasure to deliver a lovely present to her and say thank you in person.
As you quite rightly say Hasan, it really does restore your faith in human nature.

Same thing for me, but it happened in New York, Manhattan. My purse fell from my shoulder and I did not realize it for awhile. I found a cop who made a call and let me know his colleague had retrieved it. Someone had found it and given it to him.
Everything was inside: passport, money, cards... I was very happy.
These things happen. Not always, but they do sometimes, if we keep faith.

Wow! Only 4 out of 12 returned in Zurich. Not quite as squeaky-clean as we all imagine

not squeaky clean? we don't know why the other 8 wallets weren't returned, maybe people are just too "rich" to bend over for picking up a wallet on the floor :)

I wish they had done the test in Japan... They probably would have gotten back more wallets than initially lost.

From experience Aigle is a good place to lose a wallet, 1 of 1 returned intact;-)

Squeaky clean? Rich? Is that Swiss reputation? Sounds like prejudice to me...

This is a wonderful story .. faith restored in human kind and I AM 100% sure these people are genuine ..
but ... with your debit card number and your security code on the back someone COULD still purchase things on the internet with YOUR money - so cancel your cards
sorry to be such a kill joy ...
especially as I truly believe this was a genuine return from really nice people
if i am wrong i would be happy to be corrected - and I agree that with the delivery address they could be easily traced ( but by whom ? )
