none of the names even appeared to reference Switzerland or even had the .ch domain. Which is strange, unless GOL is going international??!! So rather than making the target person more clear, it was just more confusing......

eg. www.englishforum.ch gives a very clear pointer as to who it's aimed at and what country it's in.........

coz i kinda agre with young hully here - but dont knock peoplesalad.com...i mean it's waay better than glocal.com - a name that inspires me to watch my nails grow. Google is now a verb in the Oxford dictionary....i wonder what they were smoking when that name was coined? (And before any of you geeks proceed to post messages about the origins of the google - yeah, i know, and i use wikipedia too).

i thought people salad was ok... but a tad random and not swiss... or global... and i didnt like glocal tho i did guess what it was about before the explanation. re reading the suggestions from the forum ages ago i like the CHOC one... switzerland (CH) online community or something... and the GO one... but apparently ch things have to have 3 letters. hmmm.... maybe just SOL (switzerland online... then GOL, LOL ZOL etc from there....) or is that crap?!or do they want to expand out of switzerland?

like many others, i favour to keep things easy...so my choices would be:
genevaonline.ch (we don't want to lose that one, don't we??),
zurichonline.ch,
lausanneonline.ch
(with all URLs directly linking to the local sites).
plus one umbrella site: switzerlandonline.ch or a similar one like ch(-)online.ch, sui-online.ch as a "distributor page" where you can choose your home location.

As someone above was going through the various ZoL, GoL, LoL options, SoL crossed my mind. But, where I come from SoL stands for Shit outta Luck, not quite sure that that's what the masterminds are going for.

Maybe, it should just be an organic process where the name will naturally suggest itself. I think GoL, etc... just really work, so if they could come up with ?on-Line for the umbrella site, then we could keep the cities as ?on-Line for the sites within it.

Anyways, glad I don't have to be the ideas person on this one. What's that line about pleasing everyone? ;)
