How these clubs make their living
By selling drinks. To sit and talk with a girl, you have to buy her a glass, or a bottle. A glass is CHF 60, a bottle starts at CHF 800. And most clients buy 2 bottles a night.
The dancing girls
- Most of them are in the early twenties
- They make a fixed salary that is very good, plus a commission on the drinks that 'their' clients sell.
- Their mission during the night is to get the client to buy them as many drinks as possible. For this, all tricks are good:
- When the client is not looking, the girl empties her glass to the floor, so he has to buy her another
- The girl lets the client understand that if he buys her a bottle, she'll be more 'friendly' with him
- Most girls do the work for 2-3 years, and then 'retire' back to their home country, where they can live very well with the money they saved.
Sex for Money
Where he works, it's not encouraged. A girl can hook up with a client and see him after work hours, and then it's her business. But during 'work hours', there's no 'official' sex in the club. He says the policy is different in other places, where sex-for-money is more open.
Abuse of the Girls
He says, contrary to what I believed, that the girls are treated very fairly by the club owners (and clients). There's no practice of taking their passports and abusing them. All is legal and above ground: the girls even have special 'exotic dancer' work permits...
Underworld involvement
He said that in his club, there's really no low-lives running the show behind the scenes. It's normal people who run the place, and they run it like a normal business. I'm still not convinced tho...:)
That's it. It was real interesting to talk to this guy, and get a glimpse into this world that is so far from most of us.
