Maybe about 10 years ago I was in a bar in Helsinki and I met this foreign girl (Swiss actually) during the night. She was visiting Finland for a while with her family and friends.

So I decided to ask her out for a date. She said yes and we fiqured we could meet the next evening at a restaurant she knew also.

I went there early to wait for her and gotta say I was a "little" surprised when she walked in with an elderly lady who turned out to be her mother :) This girl was about 23-24 years old so I did find it a little weird that they both came on a date with me :D

So the date turned out to be quite different what I had expected but we had an awkward, but funny evening after all. I walked them to the hotel and close to the hotel mother started to walk faster, leaving us to talk alone for or minute. We talked a little, kissed a little too but never saw each other again...

Hey Izzie - I'm sure there'll be plenty of opportunities for male bashing/female bashing (as usual.........yawn.......) so before it all starts, I thought I'd take the piss out of myself and post a slightly weird date.

So, I was on Date No. 2  with gorgeous, sexy French man who asked me to propose a film for us to go see (We'd already "done" dinner - it's London - it's a common theme to move onto the cinema). 

I bought the tickets for Finding Nemo (just to test his "feminine side/child within", obviously).

It's mid January in London, snowing and minus 3 celsius.

We saw the film, we both loved it,  and on walking back to his car, my "inner child" took over as we passed a huge frozen window.

For reasons that are still not clear to me, I decided I was "Peach" and threw myself at the window (as per the attached clip), my lips actually froze to the window and he spent the next 10 minutes breathing on me to "release" my frozen lips from the window.

Some say "weird".  Maybe, but he proposed shortly after.

I went on a date with this guy who seemed macho and all. We were watching the dance movie "Step Up" in 3D but he kept on fidgeting and acting shocked because apparently due to the 3D effect, he thought things were getting into his eyes.....

To make matters worse, halfway through the movie, he dozed off completely and I couldn't care to wake him up. However, I had to go through hell tapping him and shaking him when the movie ended.... and everyone was passing by giving us the stares.

So I knew there wasn't going to be date no 2 but we became friends. He later told me that he had gotten high before the date because he wanted to calm his nerves

So,am now brave enough to tell my story.

Many years ago,when I was teaching in Italy,I had to give lessons in a company.Eventually,one of my male students asked me out for dinner.As I was new to the city and he was pretty hot,I jumped at the chance of getting out and about and having some fun.

At the end of the meal,as I was drinking my "café corretto" ,he told me he found my strictness in class very attractive(he was more or less the same age as me!!).....and asked me- in imperfect English-if I would like to go home with him and "dominate" him.

As a newly qualified teacher on her first job abroad I felt....rather awkward.In any case,I didn't fully understand what he wanted!

I made my excuses and left.I never saw him in class again.Innocently,I felt rather guilty-like I'd somehow "lost a client" for the school.(Oh us women!!)

Of course,looking back on it now,I should have simply given him my number and told him I'd be happy to abuse him over the phone!!!

How come hardly any men posted-they aren't usually so shy and retiring!

Dates with women who spent about 30 seconds getting ready; not weird.

Dates with women who knew that I was unemployed at the time and didn't at least offer to split the bill; not weird.

Dates with women who start berating the entire masculine gender 10 minutes into the date; not weird.

Dates with women who get too drunk and throw themselves at me on the first date; not weird.

Dates with women whom I've never met based on a picture that was taken five years ago and 40 pounds ago; not weird.

Dates with women who send 15 text messages to god-knows-who during an hour long date; not weird.

Dates with women who refuse to eat in front of me but clearly do not have said problem at other times; not weird.

OK, I did just think of a weird one.  Met a girl about 10 years ago at her place... She introduces me to her on-again, off-again boyfriend who was hanging around and she thought nothing of it -- like it was the most natural thing in the world.  And no, she wasn't poly.

One of the worst, was an American woman who while being very good looking, funny, intelligent was single and could make it past the first date. Probably the fact that she had two ferrets that she slept with in her bed!!! Apparently it was a case of love her, love her ferrets – which clearly no man could.

She also mentioned that she would only go on holiday twice a year with her ex-Italian boyfriend to Positano which she said was the most romantic place on Earth and that for some strange reason guys would have a problem with that. Wow! There’s a real head-scratcher! I thought. When I asked how would she feel if some guy she was seeing wanted to go on holiday with my ex, she launched into a twenty minute diatribe about how could you even think that?!

I was out of there like a rat (or ferret) up a drainpipe!

Sounds horrific - kind of Gothic even....with it's hint of the sewers about it...

Having been only a short time in Switzerland with not much of a social network, i figured webdating was worth a shot. Got in contact with a nice german woman. The right age, quite attractive, single, no children. Chat led to phone calls to a date in Freiburg. What could go wrong, right?

This woman shows up, about 15kg off what pictures suggested. That´s 15kg LESS, bordering on anorexic. Spent the afternoon walking around the countryside. As I suggested we eat some apples of a tree she figured, ok, but then we should go for a run to burn off the calories.

At dinner I had a pizza while she watched me eat it. Managed to make her eat a slice only to have her excuse herself and go the the restroom. Not strange in itself, but in this case most likely to vomit the bad bad calories out again.

Later on she confessed to being married and have four children, but her husband was dying of some terrible disease and had given her the ok to date. He would most likely die within a year anyway. Ehhh, what!!!

When we parted ways, she asked if we could meet again. At this point I didn´t even bother to say no politely.

Kept me off the dating sites for a while.

Kind of tragic really.Very sad story.

Good thing you stay off the dating arena, if you can't even say "No, thanks" politely.

Oh I can be polite, I just chose to be direct and not leave anything to be interpreted. With that many lies on her profile, there was no trust left.

Tragic story really, but she was acting as if it was perfectly normal.

Interesting how I ended up being the bad one.

I must say this women had mental issues! Sure thing she was having hard times but HELLO.. you have man at home who is going to die! 4 kids!! I would take the last out of it! Stand next to my man everyday, try to make his last days happy! Even if it is very hard and emotionally going to kill me inside, but I would never give up the hope (well thats what normal ppl would do, right). You where right to tell her what you said and the way you did! Only that I would have shaked her a bit with my words! Asked her why is she giving up on him? Is she actually just looking for a friend who would listen her out? Because I cant believe she was just out there to find a new boyfriend, I think she just need a friend to listen her story but then again she might have been exactly what she looked for you, "I need a new man in my life as old on is going to die soon anyway!"

I personally havent had any wierd dates... but some of the girls I have dated might have ;-))))

Did a blind date once, my assistant back in the day (15 yrs ago) was wrapping a present at her desk for a friend...after establishing that the "friend" was a yound pretty blonde, I dropped my business card in the bag with a "fancy a drink and some dinner?" written on the back...

She rang me that afternoon to say "yes"...we arranged to meet in a cool and trandy bar and then I booked a pukka seafood restaurant nearby for an hour after the initial meeting time.

Anyway, I turned up on time, figured she'd want some white wine (she being a girl and it was summer) ... I started with a glass myself to take the edge off the nerves...etc...

She arrived 25 minutes late... introduced herself, sat down and as I went to pour her a glass of wine realised the bottle was one glass away from empty.

I still had my faculties, so we chatted, got on ok, and went for dinner an hour later, and few glasses of wine later.

Over dinner she declared she was driving (London had a no tollerance rule even then) so no wine for her over dinner... I couldnt eat lobster and fish without wine so ordered myself a good bottle...

By coffee I was totally trousered...obviously, so the liquer probably was over kill...

She had the good heart to drop me home, and when I went for the good night kiss she sped off... my failing at this point probably was having one foot out the car door...so as she accelerated away I ended up on my ass in the middle of the road...

She didnt return my calls....
