This *CAN'T* be true....can it?

My wife lives in Ferney, France. Home phone number is Orange.


Today, I called her several times, last time at around 18.00. An hour later, I was there and she said that internet didn't work. Quickly saw that the phone line was actually down. So, looked up how to contact them on a previous invoice or whatever.


YOU CAN ONLY CALL THEM FROM A WORKING ORANGE NUMBER. If you're line is down, THERE IS NO WAY TO CALL THEM from another, non-Orange line.


I called their Mobile Support line and they confirmed...there is no way to call them. "Go to a neighbor." But, our neighbor doesn't have Orange. Oh, well, then you have to call from a phone booth.


This is un-frigging-believable! Do they really have their head so far up their ... ? they must to have a "Service Client" like that.

Same here. Had a problem with my Orange line back home. from some reason I was only able to dial, but not receive calls. Anyone who called me was getting a "wrong number" message.


So I called Orange tech-support, and they said it's a known problem, caused by something the collides with the internet line - I don't really care, just fix it!


So the guy on the tech support tells me - "ok, in order to identify you, I'll need you to hang up and I'll call you to the problematic number, see if it is really you that answer".


OK, I take a deep breath before I answer - "But the problem WITH THE PROBLEMATIC LINE IS THAT I DONT GET ANY INCOMING CALLS!".


*a slight pause* and then I hear from the other side - "then I'm afraid we have a problem..."


I had to a few hours until the manager agreed to send a technician to my home, becuause they couldn't call me to verify it was really me...

I had the exact same issue with Naef. Awful.

Welcome to France the only thing worse then their administration is their airports, I've heard tales of people going into Charles de gaule airport and never coming out!

I always said: stay away from Orange, they simply are a cheap service, and you get what you pay for. And Nir, I really think you should stop promoting them.


That said Zonker, I would try to find/reconstruct the Customer Services' manager's email and send him a mail directly, asking that your case be dealt with immediately and profesionally. It worked for me with Cablecom, another troublesome provider.

So whats'the solution then? I need to subscribe to someone for internet/broadband in France-who do I go to?

I have friends in France that use Free www.free.fr and they are apparently very good.
