Traffic ticket in Italy
I received a letter in the mail that I was in a restricted area in Florence last year.  There is a fine of 101 Euros and an online picture of my number plate in the restricted area is provided.

What is your experience about paying (or not) these tickets?

Thanks

If you receive it at home you better pay it, IMHO.

Switzerland has signed agreements with France, Germany and Italy that improves the collection of speeding and other fines in all four countries. Each country will now provide address details of the car owner and if needed collect for the others.

If you do not pay, it is now likely that the Swiss will come after you (will a whopping big "administration" fee). Then you move into another whole area of hassle.

As said, pay up and move on with life. It is just a cost of doing business as we say.

Wandering off topic here a little... I have an Australian friend who got a speeding ticket in Vaud driving a rental car.  He first ignored it, but then got a legal notice in Australia of some sort that the traffic laws were under the criminal laws, and if he didn't pay the fine an International Rogatory would be taken out against him through the courts in Australia, of course with added legal, court costs, etc.  See http://wikitravel.org/en/Switzerland

He paid up, and like Verbier says, it's better to just pay up and move on.
