Traffic violation - How to contest a violation

Hello All,

I recently was pulled over for apparently driving through a red flashing light in the tunnel in Lancy.   My car was the first one pulled over on the other side of the tunnel.

There were about 6- or 7 cars behind me.  The policy officer said I went through a flashing red light, which meant the tunnel was closed.  SInce my French is very poor I could not really say much and the officer said he would have me pay more if I once more said  that I didnt notice a red light.

I got a 250chf fine.  I wonder what the other people behind me got and if others also did not notice any flashing red light.

Does anyone know how best to try and fight such a violation?

Thank in advance.

Sorry, but you won't win.

Also, all traffic fines under CHF 300 that are paid on time remain anonymous.

Over CHF 300 or not paid on-time go on your record.

Hi New2Geneva,

I feel for you but even if you didn't notice the flashing red light, you're still guilty in the yes of the law.

And if you contest the fine, you'll need to go to court, which means you'll need to hire a lawyer and probably a translator too - all of which will, for sure, cost you more than CHF 250.

I would say just pay the fine and move on.

Good luck,

Oded
