Tragedy in Paris

My heart goes out to the people in Paris and to all those people around the world who suffer this kind of devastation on a regular basis. Whilst not wishing to give in to fear, there is a strong sense of apprehension that these barbarians could strike anywhere. They are very well organised and more than willing to die for their so called cause.

Thank you for your sensitive posting.

All our friends and neighbours here in France are numb with shock and appalled by what has happened, despite that we are relatively safe in our little corner of the Haute Savoie.

It is difficult to keep a balanced view when something so devastating like this happens, and one wonders also whether there will be a backlash? Perhaps now the world will finally wake up and do something tangible instead of simply waffling in never-ending talks?

" do something" - but what?

Dominique de Villepan, a respected voice, has expressed his doubts about Hollande's idea of being " at war" citing how this attitude has so far yielded very little in terms of real progress towards ending violence ( look at what happened following the attacks of 9/11)
