Travel Question: Permit B + Schengen Visa D

Hello All,

I have received my Schengen Visa D (long term) on 27 May for the purpose of undertaking a LL.M study. The visa authorisation states that I was granted with Visa D, and I must enter Switzerland multiple times between 27/05/2013 and 16/08/2013.

I am a bit confused for I applied for a long-term Schengen Visa. Will I be able to travel to other Schengen countries after 16/08/2013?

I plan to arrive in Geneva on or about 18/07/2013, and will go and apply for Permit B the next day. What documents will I need to travel beyond Switzerland?

The migration law in Switzerland is a bit different. After arrival you apply for your permit and for course you would be able to travel after 16/08/2013.
