UBS, banks and ethics

I see that UBS is recommended as a bank for ex-pats in Switzerland by glocals.com. I just would like to mention that UBS is known for helping American (and perhaps other) citizens evade large amounts of tax from their countries. However, if UBS hands out customer information to the US, the bank risks breaking Swiss law.

Now, I know Switzerland has its' shady tax-haven sides and stuff. I'm just wondering if anybody knows of banks which both have good ethics and services? I would just feel better if I know I could use a bank which doesn't support tax evation customers. If any such banks exist in Switzerland???

Thanks!

Do you know if Banque Migro and Banque Raiffeisen have office branches in Geneva? What do they require of documents to open an account? And perhaps most importantly: do they have internet banking so one can manage one's account and make international transfers online?

Thanks!

Hmmmm... but Migros doesn't have the web page in English. I would have appreciated that, since my French is a bit rusty.

I also see another thread recommending Banque Cantonal de Geneve. Any experience with that?

As an American, I thought I was limited to UBS despite all the bad stuff about them. My understanding was that all other banks were avoiding taking any American citizens as customers after the UBS debacle. Is my information correct, or shall I start looking for a cheaper bank (than UBS)?

as long as you are a swiss resident, you may open an account at any bank. the swiss post bank, ( as it does not have a swiss banking charter) will not care about your usa affiliations etc.
