Some 120 Waitrose supermarket products will be available at Manor in Switzerland, starting with the Geneva store, as of this week, the UK company announced Monday 26 September.
It has been exporting its products since 1996 and now sells to 47 countries, but it is keen to expand in Europe.
Sales outside the UK rose by 20 percent in the last financial year, it said.
A new deal with Eurostar in April “means Waitrose products are available on-board all journeys [and] has helped the retailer grow its brand presence on the continent and paved the way for further growth.”
The products sold will include:
“frozen products from curries to desserts, store cupboard groceries from organic marmalade to English breakfast tea, and sweet treats including biscuits and shortbread.
Products will be available in the food hall of the department store’s Geneva branch from this week, before rolling out to a further six branches in other Swiss cities including Zurich and Basel at the beginning of next month.
If successful, there is the potential for products to be sold in up to 40 of the department stores 65 outlets with food halls.
Products will span everyday groceries from the essential Waitrose range through to indulgent treats from Waitrose Seriously.
”You can expect to find:
Frozen: Waitrose New York cheesecake, essential Waitrose apple crumble, essential Waitrose garlic baguettes, Waitrose green Thai chicken noodles, Waitrose chicken kievs, Waitrose chicken korma and pilau rice.
Groceries: essential Waitrose tomato ketchup, Waitrose wild cranberry sauce, essential Waitrose English mustard, Waitrose Seriously mixed berry cereal, Waitrose carrot and coriander soup, Waitrose blackcurrant squash, Duchy Originals from Waitrose organic strawberry preserve, Duchy Originals from Waitrose Earl Grey teabags.
Sweet treats: essential Waitrose custard creams, Duchy Originals from Waitrose organic Highland shortbread, Waitrose dairy fudge.
Homebaking: Waitrose Leckford self-raising white flour, Waitrose gingerbread man kit.

No Sausages? No Bacon? No Crumpets?
Hardly seems British!
In Paris there is an M&S Food Hall, can we have one here?

A decent Cider is also missing from the list........perhaps Thatchers or Stowford Press would be a nice addition!!!!

Amazing that it seems Waitrose did not make a survey of what the expat or locals will be most interested in.
English Muffin, bacon, and saussages are like the most basic and highly desired. Is marketing is getting it wrong? Geneva is not the same city as alot of cities, so they should cater to the 25 thousand and more brits/poms (hahha :P
) and other English/UK/Great briton/uk/Aussie/NewZs/indian subcont consumptions. Just wanted to include all, hehehehee
Im a Yank/Ameridork/Kmart cowboy/hillbilly and I want these items also.

Magners, Carling, or strongbow ciders?
What about UK goodies for Xmas?
I dont want to pay the gouging /theiving prices but love to see a deccent competition with
Sainsbury's since 1869,
Marks & Spencer 1884,
Tesco 1919,
Waitrose since 1904

Thanks Betrand, please keep me posted on Waitrose coming to Switzerland. I LOVE the food it sells and it is a very ethical company. I am addicted to the pickled quails eggs, and all of Prince Charles Duchy products are to die for.
