love it!

As a British, wait no, a UK citizen, no wait, hold on a minute, Im confused now. Who am I? Ill settle with an Englishman.

Ok, so, as an Englishman I did not know some of the smaller places, but happily now I know.

Dear Laura D

Actually, we're not confused at all and we're totally "chilling the F out" (delightful turn of phrase m'dear) about it.

It's the rest of the world that seems to have a problem with a very small group of islands ruling the rest of the world's very small group of islands

(Ok - Canada and Australia are probably not considered small - but all the more fun to colonise them).

For a very small Island (or 5), I believe one's been awfully busy over the centuries and achieved quite a lot, actually.

And (IMHO) at least there's nothing fake about good old Queen Betty.....

Dear Free

Thanks for posting a somewhat hilarious anti-colonial rant about something nobody outside of the UK colonies will ever understand and nobody inside the UK colonies will give two hoots about.

And at the speed the narrator tried to explain it - I suspect it will remain totally misunderstood by one and all for ever more.

But one did it enjoy it.....the Knightshood is in the post (saving money on trips to Buck House, these days).

Carolyn nailed it in one..

'Thanks for posting a somewhat hilarious anti-colonial rant about something nobody outside of the UK colonies will ever understand and nobody inside the UK colonies will give two hoots about.'

1 point of advice for those who don't understand, or never will. In order not to offend anyone on the Island of Ireland, never use the saying, 'But it's all the same thing..' The never ending conflict in Northern Ireland clearly proves this is not true, and can be a raw subject.

I can't say that I miss the old bint's face on my money and stamps! >:] It's not too bad, since she doesn't appear on Scottish money, but have you seen her face on the Canadian $20 bill? Face like a well-slapped backside. Pah.

Anyhoo .Colonialism worked for no-one; French, Dutch...etc, etc.

@Carolyn: Plenty of people give more than two hoots about British history (including the harsh, bloody aspects of colonialism).

Sharon - I agree about the old bint's face and still think she looks like John McEnroe on a bad day - however you misquoted me on not giving "two hoots about British history".    That is clearly neither what I said or meant. Cool

Ooh, I thought you meant that no-one cares about that part of history...although, not many would as I don't see it being a highlight in the curriculum.

Horrible Histories! I think this video tells it better.

Lets all play nicely. We would never dream of talking about most countries as people feel free to do about Britian.

I hold a British passport but rhis does not influence my thoughts. Just asking for some respect. The word,, bint ,to descibe anyone let alone some one who is just in a position of prestige with no power.

Most Eurpean countries need to hold their hands up to their shamefull past...

But its up to us all in the here and know to  make the future better....very simplistic i know...but lets just treat everyone with dignity and respect.

I am very tired of every country I live in , apologising for my passport . I am not responsible for every shame my country has commited but i am responsible for the part I play ...

Lets all realise that we are all the part of our history and hopefully a part of a positive proud future.
