Vaud tax prep...

How much are you guys paying KBT or whoever for tax preparation?  I'm on a B-permit, taxed at source, and I'm overdue for filing my return.  My first thought is "ought to be cheap" since my tax situation is uncomplicated (on the Swiss side) but then I remembered which country I'm in.

I'm trying to decide if I should go forward with VaudTax and Google Translate (since they didn't do any localizations to this wonderful software) or just pay someone to handle it...

I'm too new to have done it already .. However when i arrived my company paid for me to meet with KPMG to discuss all things taxes, both here and UK..

I'm same boat, taxed at source B permit, simple case .. They said the return is not very difficult but I should hire somebody to do it at least in the first year and that it should cost no more than 'a couple of hundred chf'

I started entering the data into VaudTax last night.  My employer hired Deloitte to process last year's return; this gives me an example to use for reference.  It's not too bad, actually.  Without the reference return I'd be lost.  We'll see how far I can get...

My Husband uses an independent person who does the job much more economically than this.  I'll get him to give you the details later.  If you need help with your Pensions and offshore savings he can help you, he's in Wealth Management and can give you loads of free advice.

Best wishes

Caroline

Caroline, I would appreciate that.

I've been working through VaudTax and I can handle the data entry.  It's actually not complicated.  Where I'm confused is how Deloitte came up with some 20k+ in deductions for 2011.  I'd like to claim the same deductions again in 2012 since it makes a huge difference in my tax liability, but I need to make sure that I can support/justify them to the tax authorities.

Deloitte was quite thorough but one thing I don't get to see is how, exactly, the sausage was made.  All I really need is about an hour or so of consulting to discuss this one area plus a quick review of my forms.

Hi Richard

The guy you should speak to is:

Luca Gliozzi of BDO Visura (gva) his number is 022 322 2472, he is au fait with the Vaud situation.  However, why don't you ping my husband Matthew an e.mail first, he might have some ideas for you to save tax via your pension or savings schemes, see e.mail address below:

Best wishes
