Vertigooooooooh

Does anybody have some experience with vertigo?

For some weeks (since I hit a stone while skiing) my head starts turning during the day. Especially on sunny evenings when I should go running at the lakeside...

Any hints? The doctors said that some cristals in the inner ear might have lost their position and cause this attacks.

I have some relatives that suffer from it. Apparently its stress related and the only thing you can do is stay at home and wait for it to pass. Obviously you must see a doctor but i dont think there is an immediate cure

yes... That's what they said in the hospital. But it might mean no sports and fun for a while

Actually - as one who suffers.....its sort of a medical condition of the inner ear - you either have it or you don't have it. But thats not the whole story.  Its also pyschological (spelling!!) as I did a Via Ferrata of the most scary kind - thinking it would "cure" my vertigo.  It didn't - it just made me conscious that I could never do another via ferrata ever again.  Sadly - its just one of these things that you either give in to - or challenge (like I did!) and see how you feel.

But its NOT stress related - its height related - you either have or you don't - you're either born with it or your not - its a sort of genes thing - you either have it or not.

Practice helps (I ski on ridiculously high mountains and sort of get over it) but its something that probs won't go away and I still can't look up on a chair lift - ridiculous!!.

On a positive note -  like everything in life - you have to face your fears and do it anyway - if the fears don't go away (like me!) then just carry on living your life and having fun - without the vertigo!  Lifes a challenge - challenge it and see how you feel! You can only win - Good luck!! :-)

If it only happens in the evening and right after the afterwork drinks it's perfectly normal ;) No need for doctor :)

Thanks guys for your helpful posts.

Usually I do a lot of sports and have plenty of energy. Because of being dizzy I simply have to lay down often and can't even read a book. Not funny.

So if somebody has gone through the same thing and knows a good doctor (thank you just_me) send me a mail!

Sounds similar to motion sickness, which I get from being on a boat and it has lasted for weeks even back on dry land, and you have my simpathy - it is not amusing. My solution is a siesta in a quiet pitch black room for a half hour until you "loose your sense of disequalibrium".  Then focus only on shortrange things avoiding to look at anything in-motion.

BTW did you get that cracked helmet replaced under warranty ?
