Very hesitating about taking the apartment in Florrisant or not..Need advices!

Hi everybody,


I am one of those who are looking for an apartment in Geneva. Been visiting 15, liked 4, and got one positive feedback from an apartment in Florrisant.


My initial intension is to live in Eaux Vives area which is close to the lake, the city and easy to go to airport ( My office locates there). But as finding an apartment is almost like a mission impossible in Geneva, I am very hesitating of taking this one in Florissant or not.


My concern is that it is a bit far from everything. And I need to spend 40 to 50 mins commute to work everyday. Also the neiborhood is so quiet that I am afraid going out is not that convenient.


I am a young girl lives alone here. Any advices I should take that appartment or not?

Of course, you should. Then, if you must, keep on looking.


Florissant is not very lively, but it's a 15-20 m. walk to the lake. And parc Bertrand is nice.

i lived in centre eaux-vives and in florissant irea, i prefer florissant, has almost all the advantage as centre Eaux-vives and much saver. so go ahead. with time Florissant is a better choise.

Take it, don't think twice. Florrisant is not bad, and in today's crazy market you can't be too picky. If you move in and you really hate the place, you can always look for something else with less pressure on you.

Seems it is a wise act to take the apartment. :)


How quiet is Florrisant, anybody has any idea?

just take it and if you wish you can keep on looking. florissant is not bad (there are no bad neighborhoods in geneva, i have been told) and also not so far away from plainpalais. you cannot afford to be too picky in geneva.

Florissant is family oriented neighborhood, though it has nice parks, access to the old town and Planpalais is 10-15 min max by foot, Carouge 25 min or so, has its cafes, restaurants, shops, close to the market. But it's not Planpalais. Given the market, don't even think twice, it's a nice place to live.

I didnt know it is close to Planpalais -- only 15 mins by walk?! And it is really close to the lake. Can walk straight there or take Bus 27 to the Mont Blanc.


Also there are treams right?12? 16?

If you're a little bit adventurous you can get a scooter and commute that way - sure to be the quickest way around. Good luck and let us know what you end up deciding about the apartment.

Good decision.  I live in Champel - yes it is quiet but I go into town for noise and am quite happy sleeping in a quiet area.  Walking is easy and the transport system is so easy to use.  Talkiung about being worried about going out on your ow.  Don't be.

Congrats on the apartment!


I spent one month in Paquis - NOT sleeping and today I am VERY happy living in Grand Saconnex - I get around by bike or car and do not feel far away from "the life" :-)

Hi Yezi, I confirm that you took the right decision. I live in Malagnou very close to Florissant and despite the fact that it is very quiet, it is really conveniently located. You have the 8, the 20, the 27 that goes downtown and it does not take more than 10 minutes to go to the lake by bus. Plus,  there are some places, close to the Arve, that are lovely and that bring you in the nature, despite being very close to downtown.


So, welcome in the neighborhood !
