Epicure, thanks, please can you send me the name of the company that is selling at 12.90, that is amazing price. I will also check out lidl, but lidl im surprised. I will also check out at Manor/placette as I heard they sell a American Kobe Wagyu which is Wagyu and angus blend.

Yes lidl but maybe sold out, you have to check.
Marbling seems pretty shy for wagyu beef...
Another address here... Australian wagyu and again (at least for the price)... doesn't look that good.

Finally some genuine Japanese wagyu here (shop not restaurant). The real deal... for the stratospheric anticipated price... (~CHF 400 - 550/kilo for A5 quality... ouch!)
Hi Dave,
The Trilby restaurant offers Beef Simmental, Black Angus and Wagyu, Kobe style.
The place looks nice and the meat delicious:)

just a word about this type of beef. tried it once, never again. see all the fat (marbeling ), this means that you will have more fat and the typical "beef" taste is overwhelmed by greasy fat. worst meat i ever had. but, if you pay 550 sfr per kg, you may not want to admit that it was bad! just giving my experience. as they say, you have to live and learn.

Well said epicure
My favorite beef is the Chateaubriand steak (a large steak cut from the thickest part of a fillet of beef) Just delicious!!

Hi Dave,

Their address is at the end of the page
You can also eat it raw, sashimi style (a melty, fatty, tasty delight)

I never tried it raw. It looks like salami? But I'm sure the taste is different!

Tried once the Kobe beef like that in a fancy restaurant in Ginza/Tokyo, but with a fondue. Indeed, very tasty. But I wil not eat them often due to the fat proportion, which is probably the reason it is tasty...
I was told that the cows lived in a large space, and were massaged regularly, drink Kirin beer and listen to the music…

Then I should also be fat and tasty! No pun intended:)
Christine, thanks. I checked out N'vY and they have Wagyu main meal at CHF 98- but is
Boeuf Wagyu : Australie, Chili, Espagne
I will go try at Tribly / N'vY
again thanks.
Jimmy,
I think your right, because of the fat its could be very tasty depending how they prepare it, im not sure I want to eat Wagyu it as sashimi, cooked versus cold marbled fat/meat is just not not the same.

Have a good meal (lucky you!!)
Sorry to be a spoil sport but....actually it is 100% impossible to get proper wagyu outside of Japan.

Alas when I was in Kobe and Matsuaka I was much too poor to spend big money on such a fancy food :(

Craig, while it seems indeed that the genuine deal is scarce, you can actually find some in Europe. See this (in German, but there are links to Japanese papers - a language you seem to master).
Extract:
