Want to buy stuff from US websites that won't ship ex US?

this is something of a public service announcement.

If you have wanted to buy things from a US website that won't ship outside the US there is another website that will provide you with your own US address and then forward the stuff on. They will even repackage stuff sent from several different websites into one package to save on shipping.

It is www.bundlebox.com

For example say you want to buy some ski stuff from www.backcountry.com. A lot of US brands won't let them ship internationally, like Burton Snowboard/ Arc'Teryx or even EU brands like Norrona (the irony, the stuff is half the price in the US). So you get it shipped to Bundlebox who will store it for free for up to 30 days and then forward it on. Shipping in the US is generally free so you just pay for them to ship it here.

They will also buy stuff for you if the webiste requires a US credit card like www.gilt.com.

You are liable for the customs charges here, although I don't always seem to get hit with these.

Given where the CHFUSD rate is currently there are some great deals to be had.

I have absolutely no affiliation with any sites mentioned above but they do seem to take a fair amount of my disposable income.

yes, my first shipment arrived this morning. Norrona and Arc'Teryx. 75% of US price on their outlet site. Plus Some boots for my eldest daughter from http://www.sierratradingpost.com/ which I suspect is the biggest discount website in the US.

Was 3 seperate shipments initally repacked into one. Arrived here within 5 days of being sent and I even had an email from them this morning to day it would be delivered today before 6pm (DHL).

This is great information.  Can you give a ballpark figure for the shipping costs?  Also, did it allow you to choose how you wanted to ship (for example, DHL overnight international express, or DHL international supersaver shipping, etc.)?  I just made up those shipping categories, but I know that with Fed-Ex and UPS you can choose how quickly you want something to arrive and the faster you get it, the more it costs.

It sounds like it is worth the money though.

The shipping for a ski jacket, girl's boots and ski trousers to Geneva was 80CHF. I can't remember if there were options. This was clearly air express so probably as expensive as it gets...

The shipping in the US was all free. Not always going to be the case but I tend to wait or buy enough to ensure that it is.

The repacking was 7.72CHF

Hope that helps
