What is the pricing for translation?
Hello everyone,

Do you know what is the average price for translation? Like how much it is per word, or per page. I'm helping someone research in the pricing of ENglish to Chinese. It's a bit urgent.

Thanks a lot in advace!

 Hello Lu,

As a translator, I can give a few elements of reply to your request.
In the first place, prices vary a lot, depending on the languages.
My languages are more "common", i.e. Dutch, English and French, and circumstances such as experience and immediate availability are important.  I have come across the following calculations:

- CHF 1,50 per line (basis 55 char. per line)
- CHF 60,- per hour (interpretation)
- CHF 0,15 to 0,30 per word.

I hope this helps! Good luck to you.

You might want to look at this link. You will need to ask a couple of people for their rates. Should not take long.

http://www.translatorscafe.com/tcutils/EN/search/default.aspx?op=search&ls=42&lg=34&ll=0&ls=42&lg=179&ll=0&lop=any&cn=0&city=&rg=&rgab=&rad=50&lat=&long=&cg=0&kw=&vlop=any&vog=A&vok=&tcm=1&ru=0&order=4

You have a total of 39 English/Chinese translators listed.

Sorry, I just saw that if you click on their name, their bio comes up.

It has their rates listed in it.
