Have not long been in Geneva and want to employ a cleaner. What is the usual pay rate?

I have no experience with babysitters but I pay my wonderful cleaning lady 50chf for two hours, which I think is pretty standard.

Cleaner is indeed CHF 20-25 / hour.
Sitter is a bit lower: we pay CHF 15-20, plus transport.

hello Nir....How did you find a good babysitter?
We do have very good friends that sit....in return we just supply eastenders and any other english tv!!!!:w00t:But don't want to impose on them all the time.
"mini me" is very easy to look after!!!!!Dosen't bite or anything!!!:P

Good babysitters are real hard to come by in GVA...It took us 6 months of checking with all our friends and their friends until we got a list of 3 good sitters...And now we watch this list like it's gold! (-: Might be an idea to create a list of recommended sitters and post it on glocals, if people will be willing to share their info...

I know Tinkie, and she is trust worthy (as long as you keep the alcohol cabinet locked). So if she agrees to baby sit for you, take her!

We pay our babysitter with DVDs.. Luckily it's our 17 year old daughter so no travel costs..

Ask your local Red-Cross association (Associations cantonales Croix-Rouge) They maintain a list of youngster who went throught their 10 hours baby-sitting programm (I found the French pages only). Prices mentionned here a correct : 20-25 for cleaning and 15-20 for babysitting + transport (taxi if it's late, or you drive them back home)
