If you could take 6 months off from your routine life and did not have to worry about anything? I hear from people all the time that if only I could take some time off and do what I want to do. Well, what exactly would you do? I would like to hear some ideas. Be specific.
Thanks

I'd use the time for 4 things:
1. Learn a new skill.
I've always wanted to learn french (been in Geneva for 9 years and still don't speak it) or computer programming, but never had the time and energy. If I had time off work I'd do an intensive course on one of them.
2. Heal my body.
With the daily work stress, my body is becoming less healthy. If I had the time I'd heal it, by:
- getting in shape with daily gym and Yoga sessions.
- cook healthy home cooking.
3. Spend time with my parents.
They ain't getting younger, and with me living abroad I do not see them much. I'd use the time to re-bond with them.

If I had 6 months off, and did not have to worry about money or responsibilities, I would read more - I love reading, and used to read a ton, but lately I just dont find the time, travel to some interesting places, take a few courses, spend some time with my brother, aunt and new nephew, and get some rest and relaxation.
Not sure how I would fit it all into 6 months, so might have to take some more time off...
Let the good times roll.

I wonder if you wouldn't all like to make your wishes reality.
I came across this link that might clarify what I believe is possible http://www.willcraig.com/wish.htm
BTW Nir, if you're serious about your wish 2, I can help you achieve it, even without 6 months off!

I would travel to the Amazon to see the rain forest and try to find a way to help save the resources there.
I would go to Jerusalem.
I would bring all my nieces and nephews to Geneva and travel with them all around Switzerland for a month.
And I would go to the Moluccan islands to see cockatoos.

& Travel to latin america, join a gang become top dog and run a drug cartel at least for a while until i get bored of wearing a bullet proof vest... :))
but if not possible just travel to lating america and have a good time, i think 6 months is good enough for that. :))
Also finish decorating my apartment, chuck out all the unecessary "holding on to for dear life without knowing why" stuff do an inventary of all my valuable possesions and take pictures and get them insured, catch up with all the friends i havent seen in months because of being married to job and not having time except for Bfriend and family and very very close friends and occasional party.. :))
I could think of lots of things i could do but would end up just lazing around and drinking and eating and drinking and eating and going to toilet sometimes... :))
I hope this answers question to some degree.

You actually won't get as much done as you wanted to, I have not worked for the last 10 months, and OK I got one or two things done, but honestly not all the things I wanted to do.
Although I have improved my French, re-did my living room, relaxed, did what ever I wanted to do. But honestly you will not achieve as much as you think. Due to the fact that we wish for more time, and when we get it, we fall into the trap of thinking I've got x many months, I'll do it tomorrow, and then in a flash, the extra time we wanted has flown.

SELFISH VERSION:
I'd love to do the tour of all Asia, Oceania, Africa and South America (six months for each could do).
During the trip I would read the tons of book I have little time to read now.
During the stops, I would love it to be a travel for senses: experience any smells, colours, tastes, sensations, noises, music, textures...
In particular I would love to taste as many as differente cuisines and dishes and tastes as the world can offer (Thai cuisine will never be as good as it is in Thailand!), because I think cuisine is a priviledged way to intimately know the people and the culture that developped it in harmony with the natural environment it developped in.
And I would love to learn the legends and religions, that are marvels of the fantasy of whole generations of people (if you are wise enough not to actually believe in gods, miracles and demons. Otherwise they are just a horror!).
NON SELFISH VERSION:
all of the above with Sari and the children, to offer them the most marvelous gift I can think of: the awareness of the endless variety and beauty of the only world we have and the richness and interest of its different people and cultures, to show them that tolerance is not a gift you give to others, but the best gift you can offer yourself, opening your mind and spirit to neverending sharing, receiving, experiencing, enjoying, growing, evolving, learning, understanding, make it your own...
... and all while being aware of it, while intolerant people are grumpily rotting in their moronic ignorance and don't even realise it.
PRODUCTIVE VERSION:
I would like to finally write the books I let halfway all along my life (including "Granny's advise" ;-P).
And I would like to go live in Germany for a while, for improving my German, the only language I know in which I don't feel confident.
PROACTIVE VERSION:
I would like to volunteer into an ONG somwhere far away, where helping would really make the difference for people who are usually forgotten by everybody, and in the process enrich myself with their culture.
...
so?
How many six-months can I ask for? ;-)
