Where can I buy fresh cranberries in Geneva?

Dear Geneva,

It's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend and there are no fresh cranberries to be found. Does anyone know where I could find some? Apparently Manor, Globus, Coop don't have any before it's closer to American Thanksgiving (pfft..) and the rest of the holiday season...

Any tips?

Thanks!

IKEA sells lingonberry preserves (lingonsylt). Lingonberries are mountain cranberries (a.k.a. partridge berries, cowberries [Eurasian subspecies], cougarberries or beaverberries), so they are different from traditional cranberries. I am not sure you will find fresh ones at IKEA, by the way, but the preserves will replace homemade cranberry sauce if you cannot find cranberries anywhere...

If you are looking for fresh cranberries on the French side, ask for either "airelles fraîches" or "canneberges fraîches". They are becoming increasingly popular for the Holidays (esp. with venison and duck, but also in breads and desserts), but it may be a bit early to find them. Super-fresh ones should be available around Christmas. In the meantime, know that Carrefour and Géant Casino do stock them canned (look in the canned fruit section or the "imported delicacies" aisle). You can also find flash-frozen cranberries at Picard (frozen food specialist) or Carrefour (mini/super/hypermarket).
