Where do the Swiss wash their cars? :)

So I'm curious...you never see car washes around town  (they are impossible to find). and I don't recall ever seeing someone outside their home/flat with a bucket, suds and wash mitt. Yet most of the cars here are always spotlessly clean.   Are there car wash crews that also come around at 4am to clean the cars along with the streets? Or maybe they just prevent them from getting dirty in the first place?

Hi Randy,

There is a 24hr car wash centre just past Meyrin going towards Geneva, next to Jumbo. Always seems busy and there are also facilities to Hoover too!

that's where I'm going right now...to wash my car in the 24/7 self service car wash which has 6 lanes, a vaccum cleaner, and occasionally a (fast moving) queue. To take avantage of it it helps if you live in Berne. Even better if like me you live near Ey in Ittigen. (There is also a self service dog wash nearby...now how does THAT work?!)

I always assumed that it was illegal to wash your car on the street here (as it is in Germany) because you never see anyone do it and there are a lot of car wash centres.

I use the one that Cassie refers to (it's on Route de Vernier) for my motorbike and it costs 5 chuffs for a thorough job.  It's much easier than doing it on the street, especially if you live in an apartment.

If you park your car in a garage somewhere, they usually have a washing area for their tenants. I had one where I lived and that was included in the price. Otherwise one has to go to TCS(Füllinsdorf) and wash the car there.
