Simple really....I one the best one :-)
Chicken Galash from the kebab shop next to 7 Arts in Paquis....
they are not very good in geneva... :-(
I would like to know this too.
What bothers me most about Kebab here in Geneva is the sauce; either you get red spicy sauce or yoghurty-herby white sauce, or both. In Holland we have a mayonaise-garlic sauce that's much better.

damn nooo...
mayonaise into kebab is a crime! Of course it has to be yoghurt and red spicy sauce.

Al Amir, 5 meters down from Parfums de Beyrouth is even better :)
they are not very good in geneva. but i have to agree with the others. parfum de beyrouth is probably the best one here. but if ever you're in zurich you should try it out.. best kebabs in swiss are in zurich.. much cheaper, they give you a bigger kebab than what they give here.

I think mayonnaise-garlic is more Lebanese style, and yogurt-herbs more Turkish style.

Hands down....agree! Don't forget the pickles and falafel.
Thank you all for your replies!
Sophie and I ended up going to "Parfum de Beyrouth" based on many of your recomendations....
It was really yummy!
It seems they don't have super Red pepper "spicy" + creamy white sauce there... only a semi spicy tomato-ey sauce - really good.
I thought everything looked fresh, it smelled good. 8CHF gets you chicken or lamb Shawrama/kebab. Got Lamb. They toasted it in a sort of panini maker to make the bread nice and crispy. Added the veggies I liked...No cabbage or onions for me :-) ... The Kebab/shawarma was really yummy! probably the best meat like that I've had. and after eating the thing I I wasn't too full and thought it was not such a greasy meal!
I will definitely be back!

Parfums de Beyrouth!
Although they close around 1am, I think. Still, the cheapest and by far the best in town. And the guys there are always very nice.
But go across the street for a coke - the tabac across the way is 1.50 versus their cokes at 3.00.

People! Let's define some basic rules: Kebab = Turkish, Shawarma = Arabic and no, they're not the same thing!
Parfums de Beyrouth is Lebanese Shawarma. Since you asked about Kebab, best place would be Star Kebab at Place de la Navigavation. Open until 2am. There.

try Ali Haider at Rue du Lausanne, near to the train station
Thanks Catalin!
So according to wiki... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawarma
It seems that "trukish donner Kebab" is actually a kind of Shawarma...but it's just that every country has it's own version of "Shawarma" :-)
Seems like the lebanese guys make a really version!!!
Thanks Catalin!

In a wide sense you can say so but there are differences like the doner kebab is normally chopped meat while lebanese shawarma is whole meat, spices used etc which result in a quite different taste of the finished product. Also shawarma is normally never served in a bun, while kebab is mostly in a bun.

Rue des Paquis - Parfums de Beyrouth
So these Kebap places all close early, I suppose...1 AM? =(
i dont know the place, it was dark outside but there was some girls in very short skirts and no shirts on that street and there it was this kebab or shawarma or what ever place where i got the best taste ever in this town after 4 years from that food witch i have tried so many times in so many places. But i dont know the name and i am not sure am I ever going to find it again as I dont normaly wonder around creepy places with low ladies.

Derya Kebab, rue des Eaux-Vives (14 I think), just next to Baechler and Dragon (chinese fast food restaurant), opposite Migros.
It's really THE best I had in Geneva.
Opened late at night but I don't know exact opening houers.
Bon apetit!

Nowadays, the problem is that almost all Kebab or Shawarma places use cheap processed meat.
There used to be some places with real pieces of meat, in Geneva but now I don't know.
Does anyone know a place with real unprocessed meat?

The real meat is stacked marinated SLICES of lean lamb.
From the outside, it looks pretty much the same as processed meat which is crap (the worst parts of the meat + fat processed into a big lump).

In 2003, a TV programme did a test on 17 kebab shops in French Switzerland. 11 of them were not even selling lamb (like advertised). It was a mix of chicken and beef (or even pork) + a lot of fat.
In this article they say that sometimes, processed kebab meat is only 20% real meat. The rest is diverse fat and chemical stuff.

Kebaps should be only eaten in Turkey :)
No one has mentioned Ephèse, rue de Carouge? it's by far the best place in the French speaking part of Switzerland (or Geneva at least) :)
I tried them all and nothing beats Ephese.
But if you prefer stick to Paquis, less crowd and less waiting time before I get MY snack :)

Place Claparède in Champel !
star kabab on place navigation!
Kebabs in Switzerland are crap and for wimps!
Here are the rules:-
1. It is not appropriate to eat a kebab prior to midnight.
2. It is forbidden to eat a kebab without having first consumed copious amounts of alcohol. 8 pints of beer minimum (about 4 litres) or equivalent in spirits. (It goes without saying that kebabs must never be consumed after wine.)
3. if in a couple, or if you have been lucky enough to pull during the course of the evening, it is forbidden for only one partner to eat a kebab.
4. Hot chilly sauce is compulsory.
5. Garlic sauce is inappropriate and is forbidden.
6. Shish kebabs are only allowed to be consumed by vegetarians. Any normal people must eat doner kebabs.
7. The kebab must be constructed in a manner that requires great skill from the consumer in order to finish it without it falling apart. Although two hands are allowed, extra points will be awarded for using only one hand.
8. It is forbidden to drop any meat and, in the event that any meat is dropped, it must be immediately retrieved and eaten. The 5 second rule obviously applies.
9. Anyone flouting the rules will henceforth be branded a wuss, be prohibited from ordering another kebab and sentenced to a lifetime of KFC.
10. The winner shall be the one with best pattern of dried grease up their forearms the following morning.
Any complaints will be referred to 'Big Ali'
