I've had several cut at a key shop kiosk in the Coop Blandonnet Center on Route de Pres Bois, near the airport. I think there's also a place in the Ballexert.
However, if you live in the center of town, those won't help you much.

Just note, normally home keys are coded.
And if your renting you need to request the keys from the Regie, because a key shop 'legally' can not cut keys.
An example of a coded keys is Multi-Lock.
If it is your own home, you still need the Master key/ or key code card.
This is the same for a car key.

I've got a copy of my coded home keys made in just 20 minutes. Cost me 70 CHF though.

Congratulations. You did well, because it often costs a lot more.

the coded keys we made for our office cost 20 chf at some place in paquis. its the small street just off the dosenbach not that helpful I know but I was only there once and was surprised at the cost coz as ritchie said it costs more than that normally. Or you can try France

How about the van at the Saturday market in Ferney Voltaire?
I once tried copying the key in Val-Thoiry , just accross the boarder.
The Key shop said they cant do 'Swiss keys'
Recently I lost all my keys and had to go via Multi-Lock at CHF 140-
Also for Motobike Honday was CHF 70- at VT Honda in Meyrin.
I tried for a month, eachweek going to
Service cantonal des objets trouvés
http://www.ge.ch/objets_trouves/
This is where items found are held to be recovered by the owners. If not withing 3 months, they get sold to the 'General public' via auctions.
Next auction is http://www.ge.ch/objets_trouves/vente_encheres.asp
La prochaine vente aura lieu dans nos locaux, au 9 rue des Glacis-de-Rive, du 11 au 15 novembre 2013.
Un catalogue des objets peut être obtenu à nos guichets au prix de Chf. 5.-.

Hi
Thanks for all the feed back
I went down there yesterday as I have also lost my wedding ring.
Another story and not one I am gonig to share.
That said they have a box of keys that they let you look it. Mine were not there.
none of them were marked or dated when they were handed in. A bit disorganised if you ask me
Guy

Oonagh,
If it is not in the catalog, then no.
So if you go get a catalog at CHF 5- and let us know?

I misunderstood as you were talking about keys then mentioned the auction it seems strange and even stranger if someone bought a key at an auction ;-) No way would I pay 5chf for a catalog, they will make money anyway they can ;)

If you loose you keys or any other lost object, you can go to Service cantonal des objets trouvés and see if anyone turned in your keys. Everyday the post office and TPG (Transport Public du Geneve) finds key, wallets, etc.
La post find alot of items in the yellow post boxes. Daily they then deliver to Service cantonal des objets trouvés.
After I lost my key, i check this place to see if anyone or the post office sent them to Service cantonal des objets trouvés. Unfortunatly, after checking weekly at there location, 3 large boxes I had to check, i didnt find them.
So I had to make a new house key, car key, and motobike keys.
I did ask and they said they only keep the keys for 3 months. And each time, I did notice they are 'Dated' when they were received at the Service cantonal des objets trouvés
