Good evening!
Does anyone knows some good places to gather mashrooms near Gland / Nyon ?
If it is possible to reach by public transport - will be great, but on car is also ok.

I grabbed some by the roadside on a walk yesterday, they were sooo beautiful but then I read that out of the 5000ish varieties in switzerland only 20 are edible i decided not to eat them, so be careful

You can get usually your mushrooms checked free of charge by the Police Communal or similar. Take all mushrooms picked that day (not just a sample)

you sometimes have to make a rdv before you go

Nick: Makes sense, but if you're a mushroom guy with some knowledge, could you pls give us some idea of the general areas where there are usually edible mushrooms? Or is it just any forest?

Thanks TopJay, that's amazing!
Maybe at least someone knows some good place, where to drive by car or pub transport, close to some forest? I live in Gland, and I see some trees on the mountains from my windows, but I am wondering, about some place that is relativelly easy to access by transport...

I can't help much, I was taken a few times, but many years ago. All I can tell you is we went to a couple of places in Versoix woods, and up in the woods skirting the road up to St Cergue, also somewhere on the way to Annecy but on higher ground and in some woods in France pretty close to Belgarde. Am no longer in contect with the people concerned.
On these aforementioned outings we stopped by the roadside 'somewhere' next to/close to the woods, then walked into the woods 'some distance' to places they were familiar with. I would have needed to go a few times to each to get my bearings, to be honest.
Another occasion was on a mountain hike with a group of people in the Haute Savoie. On the way down one person spotted mushrooms in the trees next to the trail and on a subsequent occasion someone came already with plastic bags in case they found any - which they did.
So I think the best thing is to just to go explore any woods close to you, (or that you like the look of), and if you go on any walks/hikes just keep your eyes open and look in nearby woods.
Going on a few walks in those woods you mention some fruit, so as to say. I think I remember it's good to go the day after it has rained, and the morning is the best time if possible the earlier the better.
i would think a car/other private transport was more useful. You are more likely to be able to access areas where less people would go to look. Also you will find that different areas have different mushroom varieties growing there.

Thanks Nick!
If you go picking anytime soon and you don't mind some company, I'd love to join you with my son (8 years old). Car is on us
