You will get the best exchange rate at a bank ATM at the NYC airport, on your arrival. Your bank negotiates the best exchange rate. The only question is what fee your bank will charge you. Some banks have "partnership" with US banks and will charge you no fee if you use their ATMs. Look the info up in their website. You can also find the location of ATMs at the website of most airports.
