Is a question which occasionally enters my mind when somebody hands me a business card. A former gardener recently explained to me in great detail that it now says "tree surgeon" on his business card, even though he has few qualifications to warrant his grand new title. A comedian once asked what will be next, will plumbers proclaim themselves to be U-Bend gynaecologists?
White collar workers enjoy rebranding too and I even heard of a "senior executive director of toe-nail clipping administration". Is that department really of such a scale that it needs a senior executive director? Or is this a 1-man-show where the guy is trying to add some garnish to his business card?
However, when it comes to ridiculous titles there is a clear record holder. The former 1970's dictator of Uganda was Idi Amin who allegedly awarded himself the following title: "His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of all the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular.".....I wonder how he fitted all of that onto his business card???

Some ideas for postings just appear out of nowhere, whilst others come from life experiences in general. Guess I read newspapers and magazines on a fairly regular basis and that often provides a plentiful source of material ideal for postings. Was an article about Uganda that caught my eye in the last case. Thanks and best wishes, Phil

Apparently so it seems ... well I firmly beleive in titles. Thou on my business card i tend to put the short and understandable version of what i actually do. Putting my Royal title on it and my real business title (which is something so long the Uganda king is nothing compared to ..) ... would be a bit too much. My Title stays where is relevant. OnGOL!!
