I have the same issue! As soon as I log on, girls girls girls start chatting with me! (OK, that's just my fantasy...(-:
But 2 serious points:
1. Some guys clearly try to chat with you in order to flirt.
glocals is not a dating site, but that's reality...
2. To meet more female friends:
- Take Isa's advice, and come to the Activities...
- You take the first step, and begin chatting with other females...(-:
Let me know how it works...

Yesterday (after my first Glocals chat ever with a friend) I finally caught on to how the Glocals chat service works. In so doing, I also realized that I had been sending chat requests to random users when I was trying to get into the chat room I thought existed.
I never sent a request to you Scorpio but I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize to the 3-4 male female users that I confused by sending the said requests. :P

Scorpio: the below does not relate directly to you or to your post, it's just a general observation about the 'being active' point:
I often speak with members who tell me they've met a ton of new folks via glocals, and often speak with members who tell me they got nothing out of glocals. The difference between these members is the same in 99% of cases:
- the ones who are meeting new folks via glocals are the more active ones, who make the effort to join and initiate activities.
- The ones who make no friends via glocals are the ones who wait for friends / activities to fall on them from the sky. But nothing falls from the sky, except rain...

I have the same problem, some were very scary, forgetting Glocals is not a dating site. I even had some guys go " hello, give me your natel number" nothing else. I don't know if it falls under the category of "making friends" And when I tried to chat with the women, they thought I was a lesbian. Was it just my luck?

If you find chats annoying then select who can chat with you when you log on.
It's just my advice though.;)
In addition, if someone is bothering you on chat repeatedly, please report the abuse and abuser to the siteadmin.
The selected chat setting feature on the post-login home page, by the way, does not work. Regardless of what one selects, it goes back to the default setting. Suggestions were made in past that the default for chat be "friends only" or "no one." The suggestion was ignored. :ermm:
What can we do meanwhile?
May be post frequently asked inappropriate chat questions, cook up funny or witty answers... and laugh, at least.
Q: hello, give me your natel number
A: +41 22 427 98 00 (Geneva Police), or Beijing or Mongolia tourism office number (to make the call more expensive), or mobile number for Nir_
While chat feature within glocals lacks many useful and advanced features, I add this note: may be, as a man, I am lucky... the few chat requests I have received... most have been well meaning and interesting members. I found these members even more interesting, when months later, we finally met in a crowd at some member activity. Looking back, I am glad that these members took the first step to contact me through chat or private message.

My sense of humour can be pretty crappy sometimes so my apologies if you don't understand my jokes.
I KNOW it is hard to get out there and talk to people you don't know. BUT it's not just hard for you, it's also hard for everyone else. Which is why you shouldn't be afraid because everyone feels the same way. And life is short, and there are some really nice (and crazy) great people around here! :)
I am not shy to go up and talk to people. But I have another problem is as I am asian, some people generalized. More than a few time I had men coming up to me and said, they are Swiss instead of their name. Not all the Asians are looking for passport! At least only one time with Glocals member. Thank God!
