Read below before going on further dates:
The morning after your third date – the one where you made out for a half hour – you receive a text from her just as you’re about to enter a meeting.
“Last night was hot. Thinking of you. Can’t wait to see you again.”
It makes you smile as you turn off your phone and focus on your job.
Unfortunately, it’s one of those days where you’re in meeting after meeting.
It’s productive, but tiring, and you long for a break.
Alas, the team orders in lunch so you can’t even get a half-hour of fresh air.
That’s okay. Stuff happens.
You work until 7.
You head to the garage. You turn on your phone.
You see 11 text messages. All from the same girl.
As you read them from the bottom, you get this knot in the pit of your stomach.
This is not good. No, this is definitely not good…
10:47 – I really like you. You know that, right?
11:30 – You know you can say something nice back to me, right? :)
11:41 – Wait, am I being blown off? It’s starting to feel that way.
11:46 – You can’t be serious. This is so uncool of you.
11:47 – Well, I don’t know what to say. I really thought we had a great connection, but evidently I was wrong. In fact, maybe I was wrong about you. You seem so sweet, but I guess you’re just like all the other men out there who are so picky that—
11:48 - --no one is ever good enough. You know what that will get you? A life of being alone. Sorry to sound this way, but I just have to be honest. I’m sick of men who lead me on, only to pull away just when there’s about to be real intimacy.
11:50 – So I guess this is it. Okay. Fine. I’m just going to let you know that if you keep treating good girls like me this way, the only ones that are going to be left are jerks who don’t care about you. Maybe that’s what you want. But I deserve someone who is going to make an effort for me. And I will find him!
2:21 – I’m sorry about my tone earlier. I was really hurt by the way things ended and I lashed out. I still think you’re great and am open to staying friends. You have a lot to offer, but I’m feeling that we’re probably not a match…
2:22 – Unless you change your mind! :)
4:35 – Well, I guess you’re not changing your mind. This just seems so cruel of you. Was I mistaken that we had fun last night? This is like an episode of the Twilight Zone. Boy goes on great date, gets abducted, and is never heard from again.
4:38 – You know what? Forget it. I’m no longer going to make an effort for anyone who doesn’t appreciate me, my kindness, and my communication skills. Have a nice life. Oh, and good luck. You’re gonna need it!
