- The Amateur Scientist is not really about science very much; more about ripping into idiots, and the recent Halloween ones have been disappointing. But when he is funny, he is really funny.
- The Geologic podcast is in no way about geology. Actually it's probably only good if you know who the guy is.
- Skepticality is rubbish, but sometimes manages to get an interview with someone good
- SGU is very very good. It's well done in just about every way and is far and away the best critical thinking podcast.
- Radio Lab is a new subscription -- I haven't even listened to it yet. I can't comment at all on its goodness/badness.

I was subscribed to coffee break spanish (great course for complete beginners) until I knew I was coming here, when I switched to learn French by podcast.
Despite being a big fan, I found Stephen Fry got a bit dull after a while, as he really did just ramble on. Ricky Gervais (with Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington) is endlessly entertaining, if you like that sort of humour.
Aside from these and the occasional newscast, I rarely get round to watching / listening to any others. I am a sucker for a geeky science one though, and have recently added brainiac, and will check out some of the above suggestions.

My favourite one is an italian radio programme, extremely intelligent, witty and funny: "il ruggito del coniglio" ("the roar of the rabbit") www.coniglio.rai.it (italian only).
But my second best is a selection of the best, newest and more intelligent speakers of the world: TED Conferences. www.ted.org (english)

Adam & Joe's podcast (on itunes).
You can also catch their entire show on listen again on the BBC website
(they have excellent taste in music).
the other one I'm surprised no one has clocked is
Mark Kermode's film reviews from BBC radio 5 live (on itunes).
The 2 vidcasts that I like are
The Monocle one (from the magazine)
&
The Wine Spectator one (ditto).
Both free on itunes.

Gosh, who knew black squadron is represented in Geneva!
I have to agree on This American Life, Mark Kermode, and of course the Adam & Joe podcast. I found the only thing that helped me get over Adam & Joe was The Bugle. But they're very irregular lately.
The new NPR podcast-series "Serial" is also very well produced - and I quite like NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour (careful, this is for when you need something shallow).
For political ranting, Slate's The Gist is great and so is the Political Wire Podcast.
I fouthe only thing that helped me get over Adam & Joe was The Bugle. But they're very irregular lately.
For French podcasts: Interception (documentaries) and Rendez-vous avex X are great.
