Zurich 1000 Members Party - Venue Ideas?
Howdy Zurich glocals,

We reached 1000 members in Zurich (1024 members to be exact!) and we want to celebrate it in style...

We're still a bit new to Zurich - so we need your help in finding a good venue for the party. Any suggestions for a good place to host the 1000-Members party?

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Central location
  • Big enough for 100 people
  • Laid back ambience where people can mix & talk, enjoy some drinks and music, and maybe later some dancing if the mood strikes.

Where in Zurich would you suggest we have the 1000 member party?

Thanks alot

Oded & Nir

As suggested earlier,

We can have a warm up party on the boat (max 50 people) and then we can go to a venue where we can have some drinks, music, dancing etc. etc

Now, the question is how many member will attend the party!

Depending on the number of members, we can book at venue.

If it is a Saturday and if we are about 100 people (assuming) we can reserve the "VIP" area in a stylish club (Kauflueten, HardOne for ex)

Let me know what you guys think.

Anybody else with some other ideas?

Cheers
Ehsaan

Yo Ehsaan,

Thanks mate. The boat is a unique idea, but it has 2 draw backs:

  • it can only fit 50 people
  • it's real expensive to rent

So it's one idea, but we'd love to get a few more...

What about Westside - do people know / like it?

Yes!!

Boat is a little expensive, but this is very unique and IN STYLE! However you guys know better about the budget, so I understand.

Westside is a nice place...It can fit upto 125 people and its just great!

People like it! plus friendly staff and its close to the train station as well.

When do you plan to do this party? I will talk to the guy tonight and reserve an evening JUST for us.

Is it going to be a Saturday?

Cheers
Ehsaan

Those ideas sound great and is there any word yet on when the 1000 member party will take place? Friday 5 Sept or Saturday 6 Sept could perhaps be an ideal evening? Westside bar is often a good venue and the staff seem supportive of Glocals with good prices on drinks. Plus I think Ehsaan knows the owners there quite well which often helps when arranging a large event. Or a club like Kaufleuten could be fun. Only other place I can think of as a possibility is Acqua by the lake. (www.acqua-club.ch) It is quite a big place with indoor and outdoor spaces, bar, music, lake view etc. Although it can be a bit pricey and is about a 10-12 minute walk from Bellevue, so places like Westside Bar are in a more central location.

I suggest we go for Seebad Enge, just about 5min walk from the Brückliplatz. Its a great location for some good occassions or say for celebrations. Its located right by the lake next to the park and I say the fountain in the LAKE is the landmark to this veneu. I know couple of staffs pretty well there. I have the impression that we can make a good deal and not exceed the budget. Take a look : http://www.tonttu.ch/

Not fare how Zurich seems to be filled with options when it comes to hosting events for a big crowd :crying:

ok... so when IS the party :)

and btw, when are we going to resurect Lugano?  We shouldn't exclude the Italian part of Switzerland.  Afterall, they're a bigger majority than the French speaking part, non??

Youme:

No doubt about it, Zurich's night life, and selection of venues, if far richer than in GVA.

About Lugano and the Italian part: we're on the case, and are in touch with some of the expat comanies in Ticino already to see how to spread the glocals word around. More news in the next few weeks. By the way, The Italian part's population is around 7% of total CH, vs 20% French and 70% German.

Tinks: sure! And speaking of GVA folks joining on Activities of other cities, you're welcome to join me this Friday evening for glocals' Lausanne Salsa Weekend...a few other GVA folks may join as well.
