I was talking with some friends about old music and this lead to a discussion about alternative music and Beck...classic song Loser - then it flashed before my eyes an insight into the universe itself...women are never classified as losers - why not?

Because it doesn't have the same sting.
The word for women that does: "ugly"

interesting point...
Lower expectations.
by definition 50% of men are below median and the same is for women
my theory is that men compete more with themselves AND women so will always have winners and losers
women compete amongst themselves and treat all men as losers - fake female solidarirty and all that

Women have only recently gained the right to "achieve" and therefore to "lose", so just entering the competition stage. It will take some time to the popular language tradition to adapt.

A woman is the nature herself. A woman has a special connection with earth, with the sense of life and the idea of trascendence into future generations. The power of giving life makes the difference.
The gift of being mother makes a potential winner in almost each woman..

Listen to Adele... and her song Set Fire to the Rain
That I never knew, never knew
All the things you'd say
They were never true, never true
And the games you play
You would always win, always win

Whose troll is this?
Possibly because the description "loser" is generally preceeded by "womanising"?

I agree with Carolyn there. Even if a bloke is very succesful in his field and he couldn't pull a muscle he would be perceived as loser!
That's how Hollywood conveys the word "loser" anyhow!

For every womaniser is a bevy of women who enable his behaviour. =) What does that say about the women?

Absolutely right, Myworld. In twenty years time we will be talking about women as "losers" and men as "ugly".
