any tips to keep a child with a cast busy!?

Okay so my child had an accident in school that we had to bring him to ER and resulted to casting his right leg (from foot up to the knee). So now the problem is how do you keep him busy especially when that leg is very itchy!??

Tried giving him nintendo DS or some other games but did not work!

or maybe my question should be how do you relieve the itchiness inside?

many thanks!

Getting  rid of the maggots usually helps...

@Iota, how old is your child? Talk to him. For a cast leg, itchiness means healing is in progress. To make my analogy simpler, try remembering any bruise you once had. The moment it begins to feel itchy, the bruise has become a mere scar.

@Iota, you're welcome:-) I don't have children but had 3 yrs Nursing in UST, until I shifted to Business. My advice was easier said than done. But if we psyche kids to befriend the discomfort, they will handle it positively and responsibly. God bless.

Hello Lota,  I remember something similar happening to my little sister... way back then...  This is certainly not a medical advise at all, but if it helps.... we used grandma's knitting needles or something else likely -very gently- to scratch...

Otherwise, the best way to keep your child busy and moving, as it is necessary to keep moving... says the doctor... is to try your best to find time to do walking activities together, patientily at his/her own pace, and while at home just to let him/her help around with daily chores or invite his/her friends come over and watch tv or play games together.

Hope he/she will be out of the cast soonest!
