It's nuts that a pair of puffy pants costs $200 here, isn't it? The mfg precision isn't (and doesn't need to be) very high, yet still...

Yeah. Its infuriating and annoying -- they are about four times what they should be. Anybody got any tips? I don't have a car, so not sure shopping France is really an option (maybe its an easy tram, train ride? If so, any tips would be appreciated -- I'm new here).

The Oschner outlet at Aubonne is priced a bit lower than most other places, but you're still going to drop $150+ on a pair of ski pants. Being later in the season, they might have some discounts.
The train stop is Allaman and the outlet shops are within walking distance. At that complex, you also can shop for shoes priced 2x what they should be, $100 Levi's, men's coats with marginally effeminate styling (also 2x priced), and get your IKEA meatball fix. Take your girlfriend; there's a Navyboot outlet there. Just make sure she brings her own credit card.

You mean Go-sport? Yeah, there's a big one in Thiory. I do remember seeing some lower prices in there. Definitely worth checking into.

I got mine in Aldi last year for about CHF60 and they are great. They only do these ranges once a year but they may have some. (not sure where the nearest shop is but I've seen people around with Aldi bags.
Tchibo also do the same but I haven't seen a shop around Geneva.

If it makes you feel any better, i forgot my hot rollers in the U.S. and here a new set is 130 chf, I paid 22 usd for the same set.. So its not only you men who end up overpaying ;)
I tend to still buy most things in the US and have them shipped, even with shipping you save a considerable amount of money and you can get the same brand things for 1/2 the price (ie lacoste, deisel, REI)
Its only about 6 days for things to arrive via the USPS.. so if your not in a hurry id go that route

LoL brilliant Catalin..
It's infuriating trying to shop for anything "cheap" in Switzerland.
I usually buy stuff in the UK and pick it up when I am over there. Luckily I have a place in the UK for things to be sent to. I recently priced up some top of the range ski gear in Suisse v UK including skis and found for the whole lot I was saving over 2000 chf. My ex just bought some really nice ski pants on ebay in the UK for 6 chf !
So my advice would be look for something overseas and get them shipped here

To digress slightly on the topic of swiss prices, I recently got my bag searched in Geneva on arriving back from the UK. The customs guy was curious as to why I had 10 packets of Ibruprofen with me. I explained I was stocking up as they were really cheap in the UK and told him they had cost me 2 francs.
" Wow " he said . " I can see why you buy in bulk at 2 francs a packet. That's ridiculously cheap"
His jaw hit the floor when I explained that actually it was 2 francs for all 10 packets, not for 1......

Further digression:
The prices may be high/really high/ridiculous, but the shop staff also get paid a salary, they can live from (3-4000 chf minimum). At least, that's what, I've been told.

It's the Y-bus in the direction of Val Thoiry (stop: Terminus). Large shopping area.
