best exchange rate method?

which is generally more expensive?  Getting money from an ATM?  Or changing dollars through a local Bureau de Change?

I just don't know whether to bring a lot of dollars with me and exchange at a bureau de change -- or to put my cash in the bank and use my atm card to withdraw local money.

Thoughts?

bring your $$ with you and change them for swiss francs at the railway ticket office. they have lowest commission rate and best exchange rate. atrm's are a total rip-off. or you can open a post office account when you get here and either keep a $$ account and exchange for Chf when the rate goes back up.

if you plan to be doing this again, why not do both to check, change some up at the counter and withdraw some at an atm, ask for a reciept at the atm and you'll have the exchange rate on it, then you'll see the best method for future situations
