cassettes to mp3?
Hello.

I don't really expact that someone can help me but has anyone an idea if there's a place where I can get my old cassettes digitized?

I know there are ways to do it on your own, downloading programs etc. but I can't bother...

Thanks in advance!!!
Katja

Hi Katja,

How many cassettes do you have? What do they have on them, self-recorded stuff or albums that you bought back in the day?

A client of mine is doing *exactly* the same thing and for that she bought a device that she installed into her desktop. You pop in the cassette, run the included software and it converts it to MP3. I could ask her if I could use it for you.

But, if you are transferring albums, I would suggest using BitTorrent to download the albums in MP3 format. Since you paid for the albums, there is no piracy involved. It's just that someone else made the digital copies for you.

I'll see if there are other options.

Let me know if I should ask my client.

Hello.

Most of them are bought ... But as I said I really can't bother to do it on my own...

Someone just recommanded me a record studio so I'll contact them.

But if not I'll come back to your suggestion... ;-)

Thanks in any case!

Katja, by all means, go for the device or a studio instead of downloading-while-making-available-to-others over bittorrent..

Zonker, technically, there could be, but that's a far longer discussion..

katja - if you can check Maplins website - I am fairly certain while I was in England recently that they have a machine which is essentially a walkman (remember those) which plays cassettes and saves as MP3...now if you are asking is there a service where you can give someone all your cassettes and they provide some sort of cd/dvd with mp3s burnt thats another thing
