dangerous situation in gva/vaud

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – Several roads are closed in canton Vaud due to a dangerous mix of high winds, ice, blowing and drifting snow, with more of all of them on the way, say cantonal police. Accidents have added to the closures, temporarily, in several spots.

Avoid forest hikes – falling trees

Police are also warning people to avoid hiking in the woods in Vaud until at least the end of the week. The quantity of snow that has fallen, plus winds of 50-75 kph, are making the risk of falling trees very high; the situation is considered “critical”.

driving in the open (=windy) areas closer to the mountains is also dangerous: the snow gets on the road (and doesn't necessarily get cleaned)...

Naery a boat to be seen from our side.

Nothing moving across the lake, and flashing lights all day yesterday and today.

Played havoc with our neighbours, who presumably have to drive between Evian and Lausanne. Oh well, you win some [salaries] and you lose some [strong Bise]
