dental care for children - school dentists?

Hi everyone,

We are still new to the Swiss health system, and now with a baby on the way, there is a lot to research and consider. I think dental insurance isn't really worth it for adults (I'm in Germany regurlarly and think it works out cheaper to see a dentist there once a year and pay privately).

But what is your opinion on dental insurance for children? Do you think it's worth getting any? I have heard about free annual school dentist check-ups - is this a thing in Vaud (we live in Nyon)? Or is it only some schools that offer this?

We're in a village just outside Nyon .. And yes the local school my kids attend does a free dentist checkup. I think it's the whole canton so all of the local schools should do it.

It's just a checkup done on school premises and lots of talks and leaflets about dental health.. Parents get a report afterwards saying everything is good or advising further action. You can choose to followup with them or choose your own dentist of cousre.
