dentist near switzerland

OK so this is a question, all of deal with when we come to switzerland.

I am looking for a dentist in france near geneva border. I have had a filling done a while back that costed me CHF 340 which is ridiculously expensive! I don't have insurance which is proving to be a biggest mistake.

I've heard that ferney or divonne areas in france are cheaper - DOes anyone know any better? And if so, then what do they cost and any recommendations will be great! I need a doc urgently!

HI anouche,

thanks for  your mail

I KNOW!! That's the biggest problem! no swiss coverage on dental.. Thats why i opted for france.

Well are you aware of the prices a little? I live near lausanne - and to go all the way to pay the same price would be silly.. Approximately how much is it for cavity fill - any idea?

well my son had two teeth extracted (the big fat ones in the back - i.e. the molars - not the easy peazy ones in front lol) and it cost me euro 34.00 (i repeat because it is unbelievable for anyone living in switzerland: thirty four euros !!!)

there you go! you know it all:))

If you can manage to find someone good outside Switzerland highly recommend you to do so, I am under treatment for a crown and it's costing me close to 3000 chf... No comments.  At least the dentist is excellent Laughing

You can get a list of dentists in france here:

It's obviously in french, but click on "chercher un professionnel de santé", and write "dentiste" in the profession field, then just choose a location.

Regarding insurances, actually most of them offer some dental insurances, you may PM me if you need some details or offers.

for your information, if you are willing to fly to your dentist, Hungary is considered to be one of the best places to have your smile fixed :)

one of my friends has gone there and told me all about it, not to mention the prices.

they are well organized, take you to all the previously fixed appointments they have arranged for you beforehand, show you around (the old eastern europe is breathtakingly beautiful). Apparently you will leave the place with a genuinely happy and lovely smile J

and they speak French and English too!

I tried calling a few but most give an appointment too late... i HAVE to go now so that i don't end up with a root canal like i did last year for which i flied back to india.. And all that trip and a vacation back home costed lesser than the treatment here!

But sure if you know someone - near geneva - ferney, divonne or something would be great!

Hello Kanika,

I do not know of any dentist in particular in Ferney or Divone, but I have never heard anything wrong about any of them, and I understand that they all speak at least some English, as there are so many expats in the region.

I tried to google "dentistes Ferney-Voltaire" but my computer is soooo slow, that I cannot browse anything quickiy right now.... So, I let you try it.

Hope this helps

I went this week to a dentist in Divonne:  Lone Snedker (centre Divonne).  tel:  00 33 450 2001 89.  First visit:  consultation, thorough clean and full xray:  EUR 103.  I thought that this as a bargain.   She speaks English and it's a very modern surgery.

Good luck

Actually our family doctor is in Budapest too.

Extremly polite, they speak german though - no english.

I can gurantee you it would be at least 90% cheaper than the lowest price you can find here. For e.g. I go to budapest at least once every 3 months, and once in a while I get my teeth whitened any only pay 8 € for it.

Have already referred several friends from Vienna to them, and they are all happy :-)

Cheers;

Andras

It may not help you with this one, but in generally I never go to the dentists here, I go to Poland.

a weekend in Poland and you get filings as cheap as 20chf, and really good quality and nice service.

My dentist there uses some magic lasers, no pain at all.

and it can always be a good opportunity for interesting sightseeing trip, I can reccomend some adresses.

So here's the verdict from me!

Since it was an emergency and i have more than one cavity - I called all siggested dentists here.. in france and geneva area.. None gave me appointments - either without reference or they were too full and could only see me two months later!

I started looking in ferney. Same story.. and a few that i asked said it would cost me 300 Euros!! Which is more than swiss.. CHF 250 ish.

So now i'm going to a ardentis in lausanne which is great and is always quick on appointments or you can walk in.. it costs a bomb though!

I don't understand why switzerland has made it so hard to have medical health!! food exceeds any country i've been to,... But MEDICAL!! even swiss people go to france for dental - paris or yverdon.. it's crazy!

this can be the one thing i hate about switzerland!

Hi, Thanks Martyna. Most importantly does he speak English? How much does he usually charge? He seems to be well located in Geneva.

Look forward to your reply as I need to go urgently. Thanks again, Sreyashi.

hello,

I know this is not a recent topic anymore, but last week i was desperately searching for a dentist near to Geneva, on the french side, and after calling a bunch of them (20+) this one was the only one that could give me an appointment right away,on the same day,in 45 minutes.

Very friendly, although it is not a woman anymore but a man named  Dr. Xavier-Yves Ziadé. The number and adress still the same.
He speaks english, and i payed for an emergency appointment with 1 picture, 28,50 Euro. Although he could not help me at the moment, because apparently  I had to go to an orthodontist, i decided this was a dentist i should stick with and planned an appointment for a dental cleaning, expecting he would have time for me in 1 or 2 months, he could give me an appointment already this week!

Just to mention, i also called the dentists in Geneva Balexert, which were also able to give me an appointment, for the next day, but the lady mentioned since it would be an emergency visit, i had to pay between 200-300 CHF.
That would be without any treatment or anything, i had to pay for that extra. Just to get the appointment would cost me that much....

I saved a bunch of money that day.

I went back to Dr Ziade for two fillings 2 weeks ago, and they've cost me 45 Euro each.

So once more, I can really recommend him.
Good luck with your search!
