We'll have a launch party indeed, but only after the new site is on-air for 1-2 months. Before then, the new site is still likely to have some bugs. And we want to celebrate it when it's mostly bug free! (-:

Are you refering to any particular photos (profile photos, activity photos, photos posted in forum posts...) or are all the photos on the site of poor quality?

We will tweak the pic quality, and people will be able to upload pics themselves, so I think Facebook is just about finished :-)

The test site is super slow, I hope when it launches load speed will be better. Load times and the quality of the chat are the two aspects I dislike most about the "old" site so really hope to see an improvement there.

We do have a chat, and its alot more stable than the current one.

BUT

1. For the first few days after we launch the new site, the chat will be disabled.
We want to take some time to make sure the site is stable before adding the chat to the mix.

2. We changed the chat settings a bit so that people can only chat with their friends.  
We'll run it like that for a while, and then, if people want it, we'll add the option to chat with non friends again

Dag Nir... My only available dates to attend the opening of the new website is the the 29th, 30th. :crying:

So I think I'll host my own pre-party parties around Switzerland as I travel from Geneva, Lausanne, Montreaux, Basel, Zurich, St. Galen, St. Moritz... over the course of a week (Aug 25 - Sept 2)

And on this note, let me say, that I'll miss this home-grown feel of GenevaOnLine turned GLocals, but looking forward to the new look :)
