Whenever a group or a community of people gets together on a regular basis, like e.g. GOL people tend to do, sooner or later all kinds of stuff is bound to happen between those people. I don't think this needs much more explanation, everybody knows what weird, funny, stupid, romantic and whatever else things people do to themselves and to each other. And of course all kinds of accompanying funny stories and gossip start spreading around in these groups, and this apparently, as some of us recently noticed, with a speed no one could ever imagine. Sometimes it feels as if being a member of GOL is like being part of a live soap opera. No need to watch them on TV anymore, just go to the daily GOL activities instead !! :-)))
And so, with all the gossip floating around, on several occasions already people were putting forward the idea of starting some sort of a GOL gossip magazine. While everybody is anxiously waiting for the first issue to appear to see if he/she is part of the cover story, the other idea was to start a GOL gossip forum as an alternative. The first reactions from several people to this idea were very positive, hehe, so now the question comes to the general GOL audience :
Are you guys ready for a gossip forum !?!
And if so, since this is supposed to be for fun stuff only, we don't want to harm people of course (!!), what kind of stuff should be posted on this forum ? Who will determine what is acceptable and what not ? Should the posts be made anonymously ? Can one include photographic material, woehoe !? Should we restrict access to such a forum and only allow "approved" GOL members ? Should the "victim" of the gossip be allowed to remove stories about him/her ? And so on and so on, plenty of food for discussion, so let's hear it ... :-))

I've been told that this idea of gossip forum wasen't really yours, but that someone I won't name (but who can be found on your friend list) suggested you / asked you to post that idea. Do you deny ? ;)

Well...as I am leaving soon, and only have one more weekend to attract gossip about myself, I am all for the idea. At least it will be funny to read what is being said...
And...for the Shakers pics...it appears that more and more are getting posted lately...and after last weekend, I am sure that the rule of "what happens in Shakers, stays in Shakers" has definitely been broken, without my pictures surfacing anywhere on the Internet...

It should be clear that the idea of the gossip forum is not at all to harm people by making sensitive things about their private life publicly available on the internet, I don't think anyone would like that. The idea is rather to have a dedicated forum for funny stories, pictures, jokes or whatever about people we meet on GOL. A lot of this kind of stuff actually already appears somewhere on the GOL pages, in other forums, on the picture page; this would just be a way of centralizing it ...
It's very easy of course to cross the border of what is acceptable and what not, so at least we would need some good forum management or make sure all the posts are anonymous so that only people involved in the story know who we are actually talking about or referring to.

Gol is supposed to be welcoming and inviting to EVERYONE, not just the "regulars" who have nothing better to do than talk about other people. If spreading pictures and having a laugh at an inside joke is what interests you, then member activities forum would work just fine, i think.
Trust me, plenty gets said and information spread without the help of a forum within the GOL community.

A separate forum would just centralize the stuff ... a special forum for fun things and jokes, nothing more, nothing less.

@NIR : pleased to read that GLOCALS will not give caution to the 'gossiping activity', because fake facts thrown on events boards with added (would be) friends comments, is deliberately throwing information with the intention to harm or to deter the credibility of a member. However, to have a public board on which gossips can be stated could also help the victim to understand what is on his/her back and therefore to react quicker and make himself/herself respected (above all when the victim has no clue for that type of things :o))
@EVERYBODY : last year a jealous woman spread the oddest gossips about me all around her in the Lausanne Community, to the point that the friendly 'mediation-tandem' who is keeping Glocals Lausanne so nicely active and fun, had to intervene. As a result of all this, some (real) friends revealed themselves to me spontaneously by Glocals emails trying to warn me (even got an email from someone I did not see for 25 years) and unknown members.
CONCLUSION : behaviours and interpretations of behaviours in the relationship between men and women are definitely driven by their living culture.
