how to pay for a french parking ticket while living in CH

hi, does anyone have experience with this?

I parked somewhere in Gaillard, and was supposed to put a parking disc behind the windscreen, but did not know at that time. When I came back, I had a parking ticket.

however, I cannot seem to find a way to pay the ticket. I have to pay by cheque, which I have never used in my life, or by buying special stamps.

Anyone any ideas on this? I'm already way past the date it should have been payed...

Otherwise, I'll just go to the police station in Gaillard, see if they can help me out. But if someone could save me the trip, that would be great!

All the best

Maybe this site might help you?

I guess you are able to pay them online.

Hi Seasch, thanks. It turns out it is another form of ticket, and I cannot pay for it online.

On their site, it says i can only pay with a special kind of stamp, or with a cheque. They do not accept cash. I am going to contact my bank now, to see how that works.

Thanks a lot!

Yeah you can get the stamps in any TABAC shop and than they will give you 2 stamps, you put them on the parking ticket (one part of the ticket is for you) second you need to send to the Police Municipale which gave you this ticket and ... sorted ;)

You should be able to pay online direct on the French Tax website :

www.amendes.gouv.fr/portail/paiement/saisienum.jsp

I never got a fine in France since getting the driving licence but you could try there, inserting the "telepaiement" number + the "key" number (2 figures) they click on "valider" then I think they should prompt you to insert payement details.

good luck!

Hi,

Marieh, you cannot pay a written parking ticket online. The numbers you need for this are missing on those. I believe the automatic speeding tickets do have those numbers, but I have never had I fine for that. (In France, that is...)

Emre A: you cannot buy them in Switzerland, you will have to go to France. You can buy these stamps at a tabac-shop, they will explain you what to do. You put one on the fine itself, and post it, and you will get a proof stamp that you put on the copy. That part you keep, to prove you have paid the fine.

all the best,

drb
