this appears just before the actual installation of the new software application. you usually see a white line move across the screen as it is installing. if you don't allow this to finnish, it will repaeat the process the next time you open the ipad. perhaps this is what is happening.

Thanks Epicure but the os installed ok. Funny thing it is beginning to happen on my son 's school iPad as well, which gives me suspicions re 6.0

I have updated my ipad os to 6.0 and no problems to date. infact I like some of the new funtionality.

@jeffrey does it stay on for any length of time? if so, do a backup (wired or wireless, but through iTunes) and then try a Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

See if that's any better.

If it's not, take it to Apple.

If it is, then try restoring from your backup and seeing if it's still all good.

If it's not, then it's something with your configuration.

If it is, then you're good. ;)

My sons school supply them with an iPad ......sorry that wasn't clear.!!
