if you own an electric bike --> new rules to come

Thanks for WRS for the easy copy and paste   ;-)

New rules for electric bikes will start to come into effect on May 1.

If you can do more than 25 kilometers an hour with assisted pedaling, your bike will be treated like an electric scooter and you will need number plates and a driving licence.

Above 45 kilometers an hour, you will be treated like a motorbike.

And from July, helmets will be compulsory for drivers of both these categories.

and their nice translation of the ABE show about electic bikes.

Thank you, Bertrand for the information.  Do you know anything about a rebate of 500chf that the city of Geneva gives when we buy a new bike from Geneva?

Wow, that's an old thread...

City of Geneva's rebate is of 250.-- only, but I guess some shops could add a rebate too.  I think you could find some if you look on google.

Have fun and be careful if you buy one....

Here's the full list of municipal subsidies for e-bikes:

M-way regularly offers additional rebates on a selected ranges of e-bikes:

Insurance coverage is also needed for 45km/h e-bikes.
