Hi there, I am glad to know I am not the only one. It all started with a terrible cold, bouts of cough, but now it seems that "insomnia" has set in. I've been sleep depraved for a week and the sleep pattern seems to have gone for a toss with too many things on my mind. I was blaming it on 3 cups of tea all this while; but now I think it is just writing that is keeping me up. What solutions do you have other than hot milk, relaxing music, candles, long baths, excercise?I'd be happy to exchange notes and hear some interesting suggestions.from Star and Andrew.Cheers, Sreyashi

Cute video and Andrea Bocelli's voice is amazing. I think I feel like Elmo now, though yet not quite sleepy. Here is a song that surely will make you fall asleep also by Andrea Bocelli: "Besame Mucho" If you have'nt heard it already. I love this song and it helps me sleep, hope you like too.

Get well soon and Happy Sleeping, Sreyashi :)

and life is beautiful that way"

I suggest: Go to the gym for 3 hours in the evening.. then go home and sleep. No coffee or screentime after sundown. Caffeine takes 6h to wear off and the TV-/computerscreen light inhibits production of the sleep hormone.

.. and.. get a zeitgeber, like a roommate, who goes to bed the same time each night :p

you are absolutely right about the Armagnac and the smooth Jazz.  I think it works better than the yoga or 3 hours at the gym for me :P

hi all sleepless souls out there in cyber landInnocent

What is armagnac?

I asked my doctor and he told me to first try to find some music to calm down

and cut out coffee

try some sort of herbal tea because he does not like to subscribe sleeping

tablets as they are addictive

Anyway, three hours in the gym?!

OMG

I have a personal trainer, my dog, but she does not like rain so tonight she

quit on me..she is sleeping peacefully, she is such a snoozer,

anyway, reading can help,

definitely cutting computer time but then we would not have this thread would we ?Wink

Yoga, yes, but i usually start the morning with yoga

i think any kind of rhythm helps a lot

developing bed time rituals would be good

like tea, a warm bath is also very relaxing

i think i might try the last two ideas

good luck

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I found this film on youtube, it is the model of the temple in Jerusalem

that will be rebuilt one day, the music is a nice prayer

very calming if not the music

here is an Israeli song called "ayecha"

which means °where are you °?

it is a prayer song seeking higher

The religious man singing by the way used to be an actor who became

religious , it is a prayer for the soul to find its way

"the moon in the sky" by leah shabbat

"you love him

willing to be for him

strong for him

weak for him

give me time you say

you will change

he loves you

sleeps with you

you feel good

suddenly he will decide

he wants to go to the moon

there is no place for two there

what will happen now?

for you the moon is in his hands

for you the moon is in his hands

for him the moon is in the sky

the sky

you love him

willing to be for him

strong for him

weak for him

give me time

you say

you will change

years pass

you are not with him anymore

you know now love is here and now

love is with yourself

your heart is still with you

for you the moon is in the sky

for you the moon is in the sky

not in his hands

sky "

I've got the same problem before. Now its getting better... My suggestions: go to bed before 23:30, take a hot bath, drink one or two "Beruhigungstee"(u could get it in migros), no coffee or food before sleeping. In the worst case, u could try Valverde Schlaf forte, its made from plants, not bad. Then after all this, u will sleep like a baby:-)

Here's what works for me:

No caffeine after 1pm.

Don't work too late.

Get up and go to bed at the same time each day.

Eat an earlier dinner, something easy to digest.

Switch off the TV, and avoid too much screen gazing generally.

Avoid excessive stimulation, noise, bright lights etc.

Drink a little herbal tea.

Roll around on the floor to release tension from your body.

Avoid alcohol. It may knock you out, but the sleep quality will be poor.

Have a bath.

Spend your days doing things that you find meaningful and enjoyable.

Sweet dreams..

"There is nothing so peaceful as the sleep of the just, except for the sleep of the just after".

However, in the absence of a clean conscience or energetic bed-time sex, I find this helpful:  www.rainymood.com

Hello,

I have tried the body scan meditation for sleep, I found it helpful and enjoyable to listen to:

http://marc.ucla.edu/body.cfm?id=22

Also herbal tea is useful, especially passiflore and melissa (sorry, I only know the French name). Melissa makes actually 50% of the "Beruhigungstee" earlier recommended. Also valériane is very good for sleep but it might make you feel a bit sleepy the next day.

Other tips for before sleep:

- have a walk

- have a relaxing bath and put in it a bit of milk mixed with a few drops of lavander essential oil

- ventilate well the room and make sure the room is dark

If you can't fall asleep for 20 minutes, get out of bed and read something until you feel sleepy then get back to bed (it's recommended not to stay in bed if you have trouble falling asleep for more then 20 minutes).
