internship UN, NGO...

Hi,

I would like to ask for help. I am looking for internship in Geneva.

For the past three years I have been working in various commercial companies involved mainly in compilations of media reviews, preparation of reports, presentations, and public events.. My other tasks included office administration, payroll and basic accounting tasks.

Since 2002 I have also been involved on a voluntary basis in “Humanisticke centrum Dialog” NGO with primary responsibility for external communication with public, journalists, donors, and individuals interested in supporting our projects. I have also co-coordinated the NGO’s assistance activities in Guinea which included all stages of the project management cycle as well as several field missions.

My current application is founded on my interest to shift my future professional career to a non-profit environment.

I am student of Faculty of politics - African studies (distance learning) and also I have degree in Economics and Public Administration.

Thank you for any help.

I am participating in an internship this summer with the WHO.  I discovered it through the university I got my master's degree from.  However, I have been told they are extremely difficult to get just sort of "cold-applying" through the website, etc.  If I learn more in the future, I'll be sure to ask for you :)

If you just apply through the websites you are unlikely to even get a response.

Years ago I found that the best way of getting through is simply to go through the websites, find the organigrams or staff directories and email directly to the Directors/Heads of the departments you are interested in. Worked for me back then, I had a few offers within minutes!

Good luck :)
