lift doesn't work - what are my rights?

Good morning!

I will need your help as the regie is making our every day life miserable.

we are living in an appartment on the 8th floor and the elevatotor is out of order very often for the last 3 years. That means that we need to carry our kids for 8floors whih is quite difficult and risky.

the other elevtors in the building block have been changed with new ones but ours not due to cost.

Can we ask for any type of compensation against the regie?

Thanks,

Ilias

Go to ASLOCA (Association droits locataires).

The website gives details of their office hours, etc.

Good luck!

You have the right of asking the Régie a reduction of the rent until the lift is fixed. Go to ASLOCA or ask your assurance juridique if you have one.

Do other appartements belong to the same régie? Did you get an information letter saying that they will not replace your elevator due to cost problem, or even any plans on changing your elevator? If it’s been already 3 years, régie will ask you, why didn’t you say anything about much earlier. I doubt that risk factor will not help in any positive emotion from régie. Elevator is used by residents of the building, not régie, so they will replace the elevator and increase your monthly bill for sure. But still try ASLOCA ....good luck. Ps. Find a new appartement.

Thanks for your answers.

I had already complained a few years ago when my wife was pregnant but nothing came out of it. i will contact the  ASLOCA and will share their feedback with you.

Thanks again
