question about those sunday market in plainplais, and any empty shop i can rent in geneva

Hi,

I am curious...in plainplais, seems like everyday there are different market. I am interestered to be one of them actually, does anyone know how can i apply or get a place for selling my things in a long term basis.

And also, actually i am not in geneva anymore at the moment, planning to come back for business, does anyone also have information about where and how to find an empty shop for me to do some small selling business?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have a wonderful week

As far as I know, there isn't anything going on Sundays.

The flea market is on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is a waiting list (2 years!) to get a regular spot.

If I remember correctly, there is a possibility to get a spot for the day of the market, providing you pay a tax (of course!) and come early.

My bad. There is a food (mostly fruits and vegetables) on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays in Plainpalais...

Also, be aware that depending on what you want to sell (it doesn't have to be weapons or drugs...), you will need some sort of permit to do so (welcome to Switzerland!)

On Sundays there is green market, but there are always couple of stands with clothes, and plasticware, usually they are on the far side from Uni Mail, close to McDonalds. However, I have no idea how to get a permit, spot etc.

Finding an empty spot is like finding a flat. Check under locaux commerciaux.

Of course, like flats, the best your boutique is situated, the more the lease is going to be (not Ginza crazy, but rue du Rhône is probably not an option...)

Note that in most case (nothing legal per se, but a current practice), you will have to pay the owner of the building an initial sum of money (the pas de porte) and if you take over an existing business, you'll have to buy their fonds de commerce (their name, right to the lease, stock, "clients", furnitures...).

Then, there will be some administrative stuff; inscription to Registre du Commerce and probably other pleasant activities.

What kind of goods do you plan to sell?

Thanks again for the reply...thats really helpful. I dont think i will have my shop at Rue du Rhone,lolz...i am not that crazy yet. Something like in Rue du Carouge or that little shopping area under the sbb will be my target. For renting those spot, do  i need to have a valid permit or registered as a sole trader? (Please dont forget i am non EU , and i can only come back with a student b permit with language school or master programme in Uni de Gva)

I am planning to sell many some clothing and some computer/mobile phone accessories which you dont always can find in geneva or even vaud or valais. But in asian country, it is very popular :)
