residence permit for EU national - help

hey guys, am hoping that someone could advise me on this - I'm in a process of moving to Lucern to my fiancee and as I'm an EU national, the Swiss embassy advised me to just register with the local authorities when I arrive, saying this would be enough, and that I should just query what documents I have to provide.

As far as I am aware, I can stay 3 months interrupted with no permit required, but what about the longer period?

Any advice and comments welcome, thank you :)

Longer than 3 months without work is not allowed, unless you have set a date for a wedding, in which case you can get married here (or wherever), and stay under the fiancee ruling, the local authority will advise u on this.

You will need to provide proof that the wedding is in process, and a date has been set.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks, Charlie - as I'm pregnant I won't be able to work (for a while anyway), would this be taken into consideration? We probably will get married after the baby is born but at the moment I need to get my papers in order.

You're lucky - assuming you're Estonian, the free circulation ("libre circulation") has been extended to your country from 1st of May 2011. Which means, you count as a "real" EU/Schengen national ;-) and you can apply for a residence permit (B permit) even withouth working. As you're not married though, you will need to prove that you have enough financial funds, or maybe your fiancee will have to "vouch" for you or something. I only have a link for the website in Geneva, not for Lucerne...

I would still consider getting a "quick" marriage, it would be so much easier (I guess your fiancee is going for work, so his employer will take care of the permit and all, and if you're a "family" you all go together)....
